WBP Constable syllabus
Written exam subjects
- General Awareness and General Knowledge
- English
- Elementary Mathematics at Madhyamik level
- Reasoning and Logical Analysis
What they ask
The written paper has 85 one-mark questions in one hour, so you get about 42 seconds per question. Mathematics and reasoning together carry 50 of the 85 marks, and the maths is pitched at Madhyamik level. The paper is set in Bengali and Nepali, and a quarter mark is cut for each wrong answer. The interview carries 15 marks and checks your ability to speak, read and write Bengali or Nepali.
How to prepare
- Put most of your time into Elementary Mathematics and Reasoning, which carry 25 marks each; revise Madhyamik arithmetic chapters first.
- Practise full 85-question mocks in 60 minutes, and skip questions you are unsure of because each wrong answer costs a quarter mark.
- Train for the 1600 m run (6 minutes 30 seconds for men) or the 800 m run (4 minutes for women) before the written exam; in the 2024 drive, PMT and PET were announced together with the written result.
- Revise the English section (10 marks) with short grammar and vocabulary drills rather than long reading.
- Use daily topic-wise practice quizzes on the free Improvam app to keep general knowledge and reasoning fresh.
Practise WBP Constable syllabus topics a few minutes a day with short quizzes in the Improvam app.
