Unlike the WBP constable exam, it has two written stages: a qualifying preliminary test and a final written exam.

What they ask

The preliminary test has 100 objective questions in one hour and only decides who moves on; its marks are not used in the final merit. The final written exam has 85 questions in one hour and adds an English section worth 10 marks. Both papers cut a quarter mark per wrong answer. The interview tests general awareness and your ability to speak Bengali.

How to prepare

  • Treat the preliminary test as a speed round: 100 questions in 60 minutes, with general knowledge carrying 40 marks.
  • Keep English grammar and vocabulary in your plan from the start, because the final exam adds 10 marks of English that the prelims does not have.
  • Revise Madhyamik arithmetic and reasoning together; they make up 60 marks in the prelims and 50 in the final.
  • Answer only when reasonably sure, since both written stages deduct a quarter mark per wrong answer.
