About KVS NVS Non-Teaching
Notification 01/2025 also filled office and support posts in KVS and NVS. The posts open to freshers are Junior Secretariat Assistant, Stenographer Grade II, Lab Attendant and NVS Multi-Tasking Staff, while Senior Secretariat Assistant and Assistant Section Officer ask for three years of regular service in a lower grade. JSA has the most vacancies: 745 in KVS after Corrigendum 3, plus 552 in the NVS JNV cadre and 46 in the NVS HQ/RO cadre. NVS also listed 165 Lab Attendant and 24 MTS posts, and KVS listed 57 Stenographer Grade II posts.

Age limit
General category: At least 18 years, counted on 4 December 2025 (closing date printed in Notification 01/2025).
Age relaxation
- SC: 5 years
- ST: 5 years
- OBC: 3 years
- PwBD: 10 years
- Upper age limits before relaxation: JSA 27, Stenographer Grade II 27, Lab Attendant 30, MTS 30, Senior Secretariat Assistant 30, Stenographer Grade I 30, Assistant Section Officer 35.
- PwBD candidates get 13 years if OBC-NCL and 15 years if SC or ST.
- KVS Group B and C posts: ex-servicemen get 3 years (General), 6 (OBC) or 8 (SC/ST) after deducting military service. NVS applies its own ex-servicemen rule.
- NVS employees, including contract and daily-wage staff, get 5 years for MTS (HQ/RO cadre).
- Only one relaxation applies: the highest one you qualify for.

Other conditions
- Fee: Rs 1,200 exam fee plus Rs 500 processing fee for JSA, Stenographer, SSA, Lab Attendant and MTS; Rs 1,500 plus Rs 500 for ASO. SC, ST, PwBD and ex-servicemen candidates pay only the processing fee.
- The typing requirement does not apply to persons with disability certified as unable to type.

What they ask
Most non-teaching posts share the six-part Tier-1 paper with teachers, set at senior secondary level for JSA and Lab Attendant and graduation level for Stenographer, SSA and ASO. NVS MTS has its own Tier-1 in which basic computer operation alone carries 120 of the 300 marks. Every Tier-1 question carries 3 marks and 1 is cut for a wrong answer. Tier-2 is a post-specific paper of 60 MCQs and 10 descriptive questions, and for JSA and stenographers a qualifying skill test follows.
How to prepare
- Start typing practice early if you are applying for JSA. The skill test is qualifying, and failing it removes you from the merit list whatever your Tier-2 score.
- For NVS MTS, give computer operation the most time: 40 questions and 120 marks of Tier-1 come from it.
- Stenographer Grade II aspirants should practise 10-minute dictations at 80 wpm and time their transcription (50 minutes for English, 65 for Hindi, on computer).
- Leave Tier-1 questions blank when unsure; each wrong answer costs 1 mark.
