About Chandigarh JBT
Samagra Shiksha, Chandigarh hires Junior Basic Teachers on contract to teach classes I to V. Advertisement No. 1/2025, dated 28 July 2025, listed 218 posts (111 General, 44 OBC, 41 SC and 22 EWS) at a fixed Rs 45,260 a month. The Department of School Education, Chandigarh Administration, runs its own recruitment for regular JBT posts, such as Advertisement No. 06/2023.

What they ask
The JBT paper reads more like a school-subject test than a pedagogy paper. Only 15 of the 150 questions are on teaching aptitude, while 45 come from mathematics, general science and social science at up to Class 10 level, and 30 from the English, Hindi and Punjabi sections (10 each). The language sections test grammar, vocabulary and an unseen passage. The teaching aptitude part names NEP 2020, the National Curriculum Framework and platforms such as DIKSHA and Swayam Prabha.
How to prepare
- Do not skip Punjabi. It is a 10-question section like English and Hindi, and a wrong guess costs 0.25 marks.
- Revise Class 6 to 10 mathematics, science and social science. Several topic names in the syllabus, such as Comparing Quantities and Visualising Solid Shapes, match NCERT chapter titles.
- Read NEP 2020 and the NCF, and know what DIKSHA and Swayam Prabha offer teachers, for the teaching aptitude section.
- Get your CCC or equivalent ICT certificate early. Samagra Shiksha does not issue the appointment letter without it.
- Keep your D.El.Ed. marksheet handy: equal written marks are broken by D.El.Ed. marks first.
