About REET Mains Level 1
This is the main recruitment exam for government primary teachers (classes 1 to 5) in Rajasthan, often called REET Mains. The November 2025 notification listed 5636 posts: 5000 in the Elementary Education Department and 636 in the Sanskrit Education Department. An amended notice in May 2026 raised the Elementary Education posts to 7000, taking the total to 7636. You must first have passed Level 1 of REET 2022 or REET 2025 with the minimum percentage for your category.
Eligibility
Age limit
General category: 18–40 years, counted on 1 January 2026.
Age relaxation
- OBC: 5 years
- SC: 5 years
- ST: 5 years
- EWS: 5 years
- Ex-servicemen: 15 years
- 5 years for SC, ST, OBC, MBC, EWS and Sahariya men of Rajasthan; 10 years for women of these categories.
- 5 years for general women and for women of all categories from other states.
- One extra year for Elementary Education posts and 3 extra years for Sanskrit Education posts, because of gaps in earlier recruitment.
Qualification

Other conditions
- Minimum REET Level 1 marks are lower for reserved categories, widows and divorced women, ex-servicemen, PwBD and Sahariya candidates; the notification has the table.
- Minimum 40 percent in the main exam (35 for SC and ST) applies to Sanskrit Education posts; the amended notice of November 2025 says Elementary Education posts have no minimum qualifying mark.

What they ask
The main exam has 150 questions for 300 marks in 2 hours 30 minutes. Rajasthan knowledge dominates: 180 of the 300 marks come from the state's geography, history, culture, language, GK and education system. The rest checks school-level subjects, how to teach them, child psychology and IT. A third of the marks is cut for every wrong answer, and marking more than one option counts as wrong.
How to prepare
- Give Rajasthan history, geography, culture and language the most time; that section alone carries 100 marks.
- Read the RTE Act, 2009, the Rajasthan RTE Rules, 2011 and NEP 2020 from the original documents, since the syllabus names them.
- Revise teaching methods for all five school subjects; each carries 8 marks.
- Check the latest amended advertisement on the RSSB site before the exam for any change in posts or dates.
