About Supreme Court JCA
The Registry of the Supreme Court of India recruits Junior Court Assistants in Level 6 of the pay matrix, with an initial basic pay of Rs 35,400. The advertisement dated 4 February 2025 invited online applications to prepare a panel for 241 tentative vacancies. Selection runs through objective tests, a typing test, a descriptive English test and an interview, and the objective test was held on 13 April 2025.

Age relaxation
- SC, ST, OBC, differently abled, ex-servicemen and dependants of freedom fighters get the usual relaxation under Government rules; the advertisement does not list the years.
- There is no upper age limit for departmental candidates of the Supreme Court Registry, but staff of other government departments get no relaxation.

What they ask
English carries half of the objective paper: 50 of the 100 questions, including comprehension, with 25 each on general aptitude and general knowledge. A separate 25-question objective test covers computer knowledge. The later stages test English again, through a 2-hour descriptive paper with a comprehension passage, a precis and an essay, and a 10-minute typing test at 35 words per minute. The advertisement does not state marks per question or negative marking, so read the admit card instructions for that.
How to prepare
- Put English first. It is half of the objective paper and the whole of the descriptive test, so grammar, vocabulary and reading speed pay off twice.
- Write at least one precis and one essay each week under a 2-hour limit, since the descriptive test asks for both along with a comprehension passage.
- Practise 10-minute English typing passages on a computer keyboard until you can hold 35 words per minute with mistakes under 3% of the words.
- Revise basic computer operation for the separate 25-question computer knowledge test; knowledge of computer operation is also an essential qualification.

How to apply
- Apply online through the link given on sci.gov.in; postal applications are not accepted.
- Upload a scanned photograph, signature and the documents asked for in the online form.
- Pay the fee online through the UCO Bank gateway: Rs 1,000 for General/OBC and Rs 250 for SC/ST, ex-servicemen, differently abled and freedom fighter dependants, plus bank charges.
- Keep a printout and your application number for admit cards. If you submit more than one form, only the last one is considered.
