What they ask
The written test has 120 one-mark objective questions in two hours, and 0.25 mark is cut for each wrong answer. General English is 50 of the 100 marks that count, well ahead of GK (30) and aptitude (20). The 20-mark Assamese section needs only 8 marks and is left out of the merit. The computer skill test then checks typing speed and word processor and spreadsheet use for 35 marks.
How to prepare
- Give General English the most time: it is half of the written marks that count towards merit.
- Start typing practice early, because the typing test scores your net words per minute for 20 marks.
- Practise everyday word processor and spreadsheet tasks such as formatting, tables and simple formulas; they carry 15 marks.
- Keep up enough Assamese reading to clear the 8-mark minimum in the language section.
