About MPSC Typist
MPSC recruits Typists for the offices of various Heads of Department under the Meghalaya government. Advertisement No. 16/Pt-1/2025 of 15 July 2025 offered 32 posts at Level 4 of the revised pay structure: 6 unreserved, 12 Khasi-Jaintia, 12 Garo and 2 for other STs/SCs. You need only a Matriculation pass, and there is no interview: a typing test and a short English paper decide selection.

Age relaxation
- SC: 5 years
- ST: 5 years
- PwBD: 10 years
- SC and ST candidates get 5 more years on the upper limit.
- Persons with disabilities get 10 years (15 years for SC/ST) for direct recruitment to Group C and D posts, under the state notification of 18 January 2023.
- There is no age bar for regular government employees who entered service within the prescribed age limit.

What they ask
The English paper held on 4 December 2025 was a written paper of 50 marks in one hour, not an objective test. It began with a 15-mark essay on one of four everyday topics, including health, water pollution and the internet. A 15-mark comprehension passage followed, with short answers and a task to find words in the passage that match given meanings. The last 20 marks were grammar in sets of five one-mark items: determiners, modals, verb forms and sentence correction.
How to prepare
- Build your typing speed well above 30 words per minute on a computer. The typing test is qualifying, and only those who clear it sit the English paper.
- Practise a 15-mark essay in about 20 minutes on common topics such as health, pollution or technology, so you have time left for the comprehension and grammar.
- Revise determiners, modals, verb forms and common sentence errors. They made up 20 of the 50 marks in 2025.

How to apply
- Register once on the MPSC online application portal (rpa.meghalaya.gov.in, linked from mpsc.meghalaya.gov.in) and update your profile.
- Apply against the Typist advertisement and choose an exam centre: Shillong, Tura, Jowai, Williamnagar or Nongstoin.
- Pay the fee of Rs 320 by e-Challan or online. SC/ST permanent residents of Meghalaya pay half; PwD candidates are exempt on submitting a disability certificate.
