About MPSC LDA

MPSC recruits Lower Division Assistants (LDA) for the offices of various Heads of Department under the Meghalaya government. Advertisement No. 15/Pt-1/2025 of 15 July 2025 offered 71 posts at Level 6 of the revised pay structure, and an addendum (Advt. No. 19/2025, 30 October 2025) added 56 more, taking the total to 127. Both advertisements lead to one screening test, and those who applied in July did not need to apply again.

Eligibility

Age limit

General category: 18–32 years, counted on 1 January 2025.

Age relaxation

  • SC: 5 years
  • ST: 5 years
  • PwBD: 10 years
  • SC and ST candidates get 5 more years on the upper limit.
  • Persons with disabilities get 10 years (15 years for SC/ST) for direct recruitment to Group C and D posts, under the state notification of 18 January 2023.
  • There is no age bar for regular government employees who entered service within the prescribed age limit.

Qualification

Class 12 / HSSLC or an equivalent from any recognised board or university, acquired by the last date for applications.

Other conditions

  • The advertisement invites applications from citizens of India. Of the 127 posts, 20 are unreserved, 50 Khasi-Jaintia, 52 Garo and 5 other STs/SCs, counting the re-advertised unfilled posts and the October 2025 addendum.

What they ask

The screening test paper for the July 2025 advertisement had 150 objective questions of 2 marks each, answered on an OMR sheet in two and a half hours, with no negative marking. English came first with 50 questions, opening with fill-in-the-blank tense items. The GK section mixed Meghalaya questions, such as the G20 meeting held in Shillong, the state's length and breadth and Nokrek National Park, with national questions on geography, history, the economy, the Constitution, climate change, crops, MSP and sport. Reasoning covered coding, blood relations, series, direction sense and syllogisms, and the computer section asked about memory types, Excel, MS Word file extensions and File Explorer.

How to prepare

  • English is a third of the paper: 50 questions worth 100 marks. Revise tenses, articles, prepositions and sentence usage until fill-in-the-blank items take seconds.
  • Basic Computer is worth 50 marks and stays at an everyday level: memory types, Excel formulas, Word file types and File Explorer. Learn MS Office basics by practising on a computer, not just from notes.
  • There is no negative marking, so answer all 150 questions. With 150 minutes you have about one minute per question.
  • Read Meghalaya news every day. The 2025 GK section had several state questions, including events held in Shillong and the state's national parks.

How to apply

  1. Register once on the MPSC online application portal (rpa.meghalaya.gov.in, linked from mpsc.meghalaya.gov.in) and update your profile before applying.
  2. Apply against the LDA advertisement and choose an exam centre: Shillong, Tura, Jowai, Williamnagar or Nongstoin.
  3. Pay the fee of Rs 320 by e-Challan at an SBI branch or online. SC/ST permanent residents of Meghalaya pay half; PwD candidates are exempt on submitting a disability certificate.
  4. Check the application status under 'My Applications' after submitting.
