About JSSC CGL
JSSC CGL is the common name for JGGLCCE, the exam JSSC uses to fill graduate-level posts in Jharkhand government departments. The latest completed cycle is JGGLCCE-2023, which covered posts such as Assistant Section Officer, Block Supply Officer and Circle Inspector-cum-Kanungo. It is a single-stage OMR exam with three papers, followed by a check of your documents.
Eligibility
Age limit
General category: 21–35 years, counted on 1 August 2023 for the minimum age; 1 August 2019 for the maximum age.

- Upper age limit by category: 37 for Extremely Backward Class (Annexure-1) and Backward Class (Annexure-2) men, 38 for women from the unreserved, EWS, EBC and BC groups, and 40 for SC and ST candidates.
- Candidates with a disability of 40% or more get 10 extra years; ex-servicemen get 5 extra years.

Paper 1: Language
- Hindi: 30 questions on an unseen passage and 30 on grammar
- English: 30 questions on an unseen passage and 30 on grammar
Paper 2: Tribal and regional language
- One language chosen from Hindi, English, Urdu, Santhali, Bangla, Mundari, Ho, Kharia, Kurukh (Oraon), Kurmali, Khortha, Nagpuri, Panchpargania, Odia or Sanskrit
- 100 multiple-choice questions in that language

What they ask
Every question is multiple choice, worth 3 marks, with 1 mark cut for a wrong answer. Paper 1 tests Hindi and English through unseen passages and grammar; you need 30% in it, but its marks do not count in merit. Paper 2 is 100 questions in the tribal or regional language you pick, and Paper 3 is 150 general knowledge questions, 40 of them on Jharkhand. You need at least 30% in Papers 2 and 3 as well.
How to prepare
- Secure Paper 1 first. If you score under 30% in Hindi plus English, Papers 2 and 3 are not evaluated at all.
- Pick the Paper 2 language you read most easily. The brochure lists 15 options, including Hindi, Khortha, Nagpuri and Santhali.
- Give the Jharkhand block of Paper 3 the most time, since it is 40 of the 150 questions.
- With 1 mark lost per wrong answer, attempt a question only when you can rule out at least two options.
