About JKSSB MPHW

JKSSB recruits Multi Purpose Health Workers for the Health and Medical Education Department, and the Director, Health Services Kashmir is the appointing authority. Advertisement Notification No. 08 of 2026, dated 4 August 2026, has 46 Female MPHW and 19 Male MPHW posts in district cadres of the Kashmir division, at pay Level-2 (19900-63200). You need a diploma in the MPHW course, and the merit list comes from the written test alone.

Eligibility

Age limit

General category: 18–40 years, counted on 1 January 2026.

Age relaxation

• OBC: 3 years
• SC: 3 years
• ST: 3 years
• EWS: 3 years
• PwBD: 2 years
• SC, ST-1, ST-2, RBA, ALC/IB, EWS and OBC: up to 43
• Physically challenged candidates: up to 42
• Ex-servicemen may deduct their armed forces service from their age, and qualify if the result is no more than 3 years above the upper limit

Qualification

Female MPHW: Matric or higher with science, plus a Diploma in FMPHW from a recognised institute. Male MPHW: Matric or higher, plus a Diploma in MMPHW of at least one year from a recognised institute, State Medical Faculty or State Paramedical Council.

Other conditions

• The 2026 advertisement lists Female MPHW posts in 10 Kashmir division districts (Budgam, Srinagar, Ganderbal, Pulwama, Shopian, Kulgam, Anantnag, Kupwara, Baramulla, Bandipora) and Male MPHW posts in 9 of them.
• You must not be born after 1 January 2008.
• Application fee is Rs 600, or Rs 500 for SC, ST-1, ST-2, EWS and PwBD candidates, paid online only.

JKSSB MPHW syllabus

What they ask

The MPHW paper notified for the 2025 cycle is 120 marks in two hours, split into six blocks of 20 marks. Only one block, Science-I, is general science: anatomy, physiology, microbiology, hygiene and nutrition. The other five cover nursing procedures and first aid, child and maternal health, midwifery and family planning, health education, and communicable diseases. Questions are in English only, and a quarter of a question's marks is cut for a wrong answer. The 2026 advertisement says its syllabus will be notified separately, so check the JKSSB syllabus page before the exam.

How to prepare

• Revise your diploma notes block by block. Five of the six 20-mark blocks are nursing and community health topics, from first aid to family planning.
• Make a table of common communicable diseases with their cause, mode of spread and prevention, which covers a large part of Community Health Nursing-III.
• Give maternal and child health extra time: child health, maternal health, domiciliary midwifery and family planning appear across two separate blocks.
• Leave a question blank when you cannot narrow it down, because a wrong answer costs a quarter mark.
• Use daily topic-wise quizzes on the free Improvam app to keep anatomy and physiology fresh for the Science-I block.
