About HTET
HTET is the eligibility test you must pass before applying for teacher posts in schools recognised by Haryana's school education department and affiliated to BSEH. The Board of School Education Haryana, Bhiwani runs it at three levels: PRT, TGT and PGT. HTET is a qualifying test, not a recruitment exam, and the certificate is valid for life.

Qualification
Level 1 (PRT): Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education, or one of the other routes in the bulletin such as B.El.Ed or graduation with the diploma. Levels 2 and 3 follow the subject-wise degree or postgraduate degree and B.Ed requirements in the bulletin and the Haryana service rules. Final-year students of the required course may also apply.
Other conditions
- The HTET-2024 bulletin does not list an age limit for the test.
- The bulletin's qualification tables also ask for Hindi or Sanskrit in matric, or Hindi at 10+2, graduation or postgraduation level.
- There is no limit on attempts, and qualified candidates can sit again to improve their score.

Child development and pedagogy
- Level 1: psychology of learners aged 6 to 11
- Level 2: learners aged 11 to 16
- Level 3: learners aged 14 to 17

Languages and general studies
- Hindi and English proficiency related to the medium of instruction

- Level 1: mathematics and environmental studies from the classes 1 to 5 syllabus of Haryana's education department
- Level 2: chosen subject from the BSEH syllabus for classes 6 to 10, with difficulty up to senior secondary
- Level 3: chosen subject from the BSEH syllabus for classes 9 to 12, with difficulty up to postgraduate level
What they ask
Every level has one paper of 150 multiple-choice questions, one mark each, in two and a half hours with no negative marking. Child development and pedagogy, languages and general studies take 30 questions each at every level; the general studies block has 10 questions each on quantitative aptitude, reasoning and Haryana GK. Level 1 then adds 30 each on maths and EVS, while Levels 2 and 3 have 60 questions on the subject you choose. You need 90 marks (60 percent) to qualify, or 82 marks (55 percent) if you are an SC or differently abled candidate of Haryana domicile.
How to prepare
- Aim for 90 out of 150, the qualifying mark for most candidates. Since there is no negative marking, attempt every question.
- At Levels 2 and 3, the chosen subject carries 60 of the 150 marks. Work through the BSEH textbooks for the classes the bulletin names.
- Prepare child development and pedagogy for the age group of your level; the bulletin sets different age ranges for each level.
- Do not leave out Haryana GK. It is only 10 questions, but they are easy to secure with a short state notes sheet.
