About Haryana Court Clerk
Clerks for Haryana's district and subordinate courts are recruited centrally by SSSC, a society under the Punjab and Haryana High Court, on behalf of the District and Sessions Judges. Employment Notice 36C/SSSC/HR/2026, dated 22 May 2026, covers 1,265 clerk posts: 1,015 vacant on 31 December 2025 and 250 anticipated up to 30 June 2026. Selection is a computer-based written test followed by a qualifying computer proficiency test.
Eligibility
Age limit
General category: 18–42 years, counted on 1 January 2026.
Age relaxation
- SC: 5 years
- OBC: 5 years
- PwBD: 10 years
- PwBD candidates get 10 years, plus 5 more if they also belong to SC, ST, BC or EWS.
- With relaxation, the upper age cannot go past 52 years, except for ex-servicemen.
- Age, fee and reservation benefits are not given to reserved-category applicants from other states, except age relaxation for government employees as set out in the notice.

What they ask
The written test is a 2-hour computer-based exam worth 100 marks. General Knowledge has 50 one-mark questions. English has an objective part of 50 questions scaled to 20 marks and a typed subjective part worth 30 marks: a 150-word essay, a letter, a precis and a Hindi-to-English translation. Each wrong MCQ costs a quarter mark. You need 33 percent in each subject and 40 percent overall, and the English subjective answers are marked only if you score 33 percent in General Knowledge. Final merit comes from the written test; the computer test is pass or fail.
How to prepare
- Practise typing your essays and letters, not writing them by hand. The subjective English part is typed on the computer within the same 2 hours.
- Get your English typing to a steady 30 words per minute and practise basic spreadsheet tasks; failing the computer test ends your candidature even with a high written score.
- Protect your General Knowledge score. If it falls below 33 percent, your English answers are not checked at all.
- Skip GK questions you are unsure of. Each wrong answer costs a quarter mark, while a blank costs nothing.
