About DSSSB JE Civil
DSSSB recruits Junior Engineers (Civil) for Delhi Jal Board and NDMC through a combined exam. Advertisement No. 01/2026 lists 281 posts under post code 803/26: 180 in Delhi Jal Board and 101 in NDMC, both on Pay Level 6. It is a one-tier exam of 200 questions, and each technical question carries two marks.
Eligibility
Age limit
General category: Up to 32 years, counted on 25 March 2026.
Age relaxation
- SC: 5 years
- ST: 5 years
- OBC: 3 years
- PwBD: 10 years
- Delhi Jal Board posts: not more than 30 years. NDMC posts: 18 to 32 years.
- PwBD candidates get 13 years if they are also OBC and 15 years if also SC or ST.
- Contractual employees of the same department: relaxation equal to the time served, up to 5 years, counting years with at least 180 working days.

Other conditions
- OBC reservation and age relaxation need an OBC (Delhi) certificate, or an outside certificate for a caste that the Delhi government has notified as OBC. Other OBC candidates apply as unreserved.

What they ask
The JE Civil paper runs three hours and has 200 questions worth 300 marks. Section A has 100 one-mark general questions, 20 each on general awareness, reasoning, arithmetic, Hindi and English. Section B has 100 two-mark technical questions that test how you apply civil engineering concepts and solve problems. A wrong two-mark answer costs 0.50, so a blind guess in Section B hurts twice as much. The qualifying floor sits on Section B, and rank uses the combined score.
How to prepare
- Put most hours into Section B. It carries 200 of the 300 marks, and the DSSSB syllabus runs from surveying and hydraulics to RCC, steel design and estimating.
- Practise numericals, not just definitions. The advertisement says Section B tests application of concepts and problem-solving.
- Revise first-year diploma basics as well. The syllabus opens with applied physics, applied chemistry and applied mathematics.

- Register once on dsssbonline.nic.in; one registration serves every DSSSB exam.
- Log in, pick the post code and fill in the online form before the closing date.
- Pay the fee through SBI e-pay if your category is not exempt.
- Print the submitted form and keep checking dsssb.delhi.gov.in for the exam date and notices.
DSSSB JE Civil FAQs
Yes, if you also have two years' experience in planning, execution and maintenance of civil works. NDMC asks only for the three-year diploma.
