About DSSSB PGT
PGT is the senior subject-teacher post in Directorate of Education schools, on Pay Level 8. DSSSB advertises it subject by subject, with separate male and female post codes. The latest round, in Advertisement No. 01/2025 dated 4 July 2025, covered English, Sanskrit, Engineering Graphics, Horticulture and Agriculture. The written test is longer than the TGT paper: 300 questions in three hours.
Eligibility
Age limit
General category: Up to 30 years, counted on 7 August 2025.
Age relaxation
- SC: 5 years
- ST: 5 years
- OBC: 3 years
- PwBD: 10 years
- PwBD candidates get 13 years if they are also OBC and 15 years if also SC or ST.
- Ex-servicemen: period of military service plus 3 years, up to a maximum age of 55.
- Regular government servants: up to 5 years, as per Central Government orders.
- Contractual employees of the same department: relaxation equal to the time served, up to 5 years, counting years with at least 120 working days.

- Male and female posts are advertised under separate post codes.
- OBC reservation and age relaxation need an OBC (Delhi) certificate, or an outside certificate for a caste that the Delhi government has notified as OBC. Other OBC candidates apply as unreserved.

What they ask
The PGT paper has 300 one-mark questions in three hours. Section A has 100 questions, 20 each on mental ability and reasoning, general awareness, English, Hindi, and numerical aptitude with data interpretation. Section B has 200 questions on the master's-level subject and teaching methodology. Section B carries the qualifying floor, the merit list uses the total, and 0.25 is cut for every wrong answer.
How to prepare
- Plan for Section B first. It is two-thirds of the paper, and the questions are set at master's level in your subject.
- Practise data interpretation. The PGT Section A names numerical aptitude with data interpretation as a separate area.
- Train for a three-hour sitting. 300 questions in 180 minutes leaves about 36 seconds a question.
