About DSSSB PRT
Assistant Teacher (Primary), usually called PRT, is the primary-school teaching post in Directorate of Education and NDMC schools, on Pay Level 6. DSSSB advertised 1,180 posts under Advertisement No. 05/2025 (Combined Examination, 2025), all under post code 802/25. A corrigendum of 18 May 2026 cut the Directorate of Education share from 1,055 to 1,044, so the total is now 1,169, with 125 for NDMC. One exam covers both departments, and you give your department preference later, when DSSSB calls the e-dossier.
Eligibility
Age limit
General category: Up to 30 years, counted on 16 October 2025.
Age relaxation
- SC: 5 years
- ST: 5 years
- OBC: 3 years
- PwBD: 10 years
- PwBD candidates get 13 years if they are also OBC and 15 years if also SC or ST.
- Ex-servicemen: period of military service plus 3 years, up to a maximum age of 55.
- Contract or guest teachers of the Directorate of Education who have not used it before get a one-time upper age relaxation.
- Contractual employees of the same department: relaxation equal to the time served, up to 5 years, counting years with at least 120 working days.

Other conditions
- For the Directorate of Education post, reserved-category candidates get up to 5% relaxation in the qualifying marks of the academic qualification.
- OBC reservation and age relaxation need an OBC (Delhi) certificate, or an outside certificate for a caste that the Delhi government has notified as OBC. Other OBC candidates apply as unreserved.
- Computer knowledge is desirable for the NDMC post.

What they ask
The PRT exam is one paper of 200 one-mark questions in two hours. Section A tests general awareness, reasoning, arithmetic, English and Hindi with 20 questions each. Section B has 100 questions from the NCTE curriculum for the post, including teaching methodology. The qualifying floor applies to Section B, merit is decided on the total, and 0.25 is cut for each wrong answer. The minimum qualifying marks are 40% for General and EWS, 35% for OBC (Delhi) and 30% for SC, ST and PwBD candidates.
How to prepare
- Use your D.El.Ed and CTET Paper 1 notes for Section B. The advertisement says it follows the NCTE curriculum for the post, including teaching methodology.
- Keep both language sections in your plan. English and Hindi carry 20 marks each, and those questions are set only in the language being tested.
- Submit your department preference on time when DSSSB calls the e-dossier. The advertisement says candidates who miss it are left out of the final result.
