About ITBP Constable Kitchen Services
Constable (Kitchen Services) is ITBP's cook post, a Group C job at Pay Level 3 (Rs 21,700 to 69,100) with an all-India posting liability. The 2024 advertisement, with applications from 2 September to 1 October 2024, listed 819 vacancies, and a corrigendum of 28 August 2025 raised them to 1,048: 891 for men and 157 for women. Besides Class 10 you need an NSQF Level 1 course in food production or kitchen work. Selection covers a physical test, a short written paper, document checks and a medical, with no separate cooking test in this cycle.
Eligibility
Age limit
General category: 18–25 years, counted on 1 October 2024.
Age relaxation
- SC: 5 years
- ST: 5 years
- OBC: 3 years
- Age is counted on the closing date: you must be born between 2 October 1999 and 1 October 2006.
- Ex-servicemen: 3 years (General), 6 years (OBC) or 8 years (SC/ST) after deducting military service from actual age.
- Central Government employees with at least 3 years of continuous service: up to 40 years (UR, EWS, OBC) and 45 (SC/ST).
- Children and dependants of those killed in the 1984 riots or the 2002 Gujarat riots: 5 years (UR/EWS), 8 years (OBC) and 10 years (SC/ST).
Qualification

Other conditions
- Open to Indian citizens, and also to subjects of Nepal and Bhutan.
- Vacancies are split by category and gender, not by state. A domicile certificate, PAN, Aadhaar, driving licence or voter card is checked only to confirm citizenship.
- Height 165 cm for men and 155 cm for women, with chest 75 cm unexpanded and 80 cm expanded for men. ST, North-East, hill-region and some other groups get lower height limits.
- Fee is Rs 100 for male General, OBC and EWS candidates, paid online. SC, ST, women and ex-servicemen are exempt.

What they ask
The written test is short: 50 questions for 50 marks in one hour. General awareness and analytical aptitude carry 15 marks each, elementary maths 10, and basic English or Hindi 10, where you pick one language set. You need 35% to qualify as General, EWS or ex-serviceman and 33% as SC, ST or OBC. Merit goes by written marks within each category, so every mark counts even though the paper is small.
How to prepare
- Treat the written paper as the whole contest. With only 50 marks, a few wrong answers can move you many places down the category merit list.
- Practise pattern and figure questions, since analytical aptitude carries 15 marks, as much as general awareness.
- Pick English or Hindi before the exam based on your practice scores, and prepare only that set of 10 questions.
- Get your NSQF Level 1 food production or kitchen certificate in hand before you apply, as it is part of the essential qualification.

How to apply
- Register and apply online on recruitment.itbpolice.nic.in. No other mode is accepted.
- Enter your gender, category and other profile details correctly, since they cannot be changed later.
- Pay the Rs 100 fee online if you are not exempt.
- Download the admit card for each stage from the ITBP recruitment website and carry a printout of your application form to the PET venue.
