About Bihar Police Constable

CSBC recruits constables for Bihar's district police and the Bihar Special Armed Police in one combined process. Advertisement 01/2025 was issued for 19,838 constable posts in pay level 3. The written test only qualifies you for the physical test, and the final merit list comes from physical test marks.

Eligibility

Age limit

General category: 18–25 years, counted on 1 August 2025 for minimum age; 1 August 2023 for maximum age.

Age relaxation

  • OBC: 2 years
  • SC: 5 years
  • ST: 5 years
  • Unreserved: 18 to 25 years.
  • BC and EBC men: upper limit 27; BC and EBC women: upper limit 28.
  • SC and ST (men and women) and transgender candidates: upper limit 30.
  • Home guards of all categories get 5 more years.

Qualification

Intermediate (10+2) pass, or a Maulvi certificate from the Bihar State Madrasa Board, or Shastri (with English) or Acharya (without English) from the Bihar Sanskrit Board, or another equivalent recognised by the state government.

Other conditions

  • Minimum height: 165 cm for unreserved and BC men, 160 cm for EBC, SC and ST men, 155 cm for all women.
  • Chest (men): 81 cm unexpanded and 86 cm expanded, with at least 5 cm expansion; 79 and 84 cm for SC and ST men.
  • Women need a minimum weight of 48 kg. Transgender candidates follow the women's standards.
  • Candidates from other states can apply but are treated as unreserved.

What they ask

The written test has 100 one-mark objective questions in two hours on an OMR sheet, set at the level of the BSEB Class 10 exam. Questions cover Hindi, English, maths, social science, science and general knowledge. Scoring 30% is enough to stay in the race, but the board calls only about five times the vacancies in each category to the physical test. Your rank then depends on the 100 marks of the physical test.

How to prepare

  • Start running practice early. The 1.6 km run alone carries 50 of the 100 PET marks, and a time under 5 minutes gets full marks for men.
  • Practise shot put and high jump with proper coaching; you must pass each event separately.
  • For the written test, revise Class 9 and 10 BSEB textbooks, because the paper is set at Matric level.
  • Aim well above 30% in the written test, since only about five times the vacancies go to the PET.
