About Sikkim JE Civil
SPSC recruits Junior Engineers (Civil) for the Roads and Bridges Department, Government of Sikkim. Advertisement No. 07/SPSC/EXAM/2024 was for 100 posts at Level 12 of the pay matrix. What they ask
Paper I is a two-hour, 100-mark paper in general English and general knowledge, and its English part lists report, essay and précis writing next to grammar and comprehension. Paper II carries 300 marks over three hours and covers 28 units of the civil engineering diploma. Surveying, construction materials and concrete technology sit in the same list as estimating and costing, pavement design, and tendering and accounts. SPSC lists both papers as MCQ or conventional, so prepare to write out working as well as pick options. A non-programmable scientific calculator is allowed.
How to prepare
- Spend most of your time on Paper II. It carries 300 of the 400 marks.
- Practise numerical units such as estimating and costing, design of steel and RCC structures and theory of structures by solving problems, not only by reading.
- Prepare report, essay and précis writing for Paper I, since the English syllabus names them alongside grammar and comprehension.
- Practise with the non-programmable scientific calculator you will carry. SPSC's notice bans programmable models and does not let candidates share.

How to apply
- Complete the one-time registration on SPSC's upgraded recruitment portal (RPA 3.0) at spscrecruitment.sikkim.gov.in. If you were registered on the old portal, use the same email ID so your earlier records link up.
- Apply online against the advertisement before the last date. SPSC rejects applications sent any other way.
- Pay the ₹200 application fee online by net banking or a debit or credit card. It is not refunded.
- Download the e-admit card after SPSC posts a notice for it, and bring it to the centre with a photo ID such as Aadhaar, a voter card or a driving licence.
