About Sikkim Jail Warder
SPSC recruits Warders for the Sikkim State Jail under the Home Department. Advertisement No. 22/SPSC/EXAM/2026 was for 37 posts at Level 6 of the pay matrix, open to men and women who have passed Class 12. Selection is a 100-mark written test followed by a physical efficiency test worth 75 marks.

Other conditions
- You need a Sikkim Subject Certificate or a Certificate of Identification issued by the competent authority, and a valid local employment card from the Government of Sikkim.
- You must know one of the state languages and be familiar with Sikkim's customs and usages.
- Men need a height of at least 5 ft 5 in, a 32-inch chest with 2 inches of expansion and a weight of at least 50 kg. Women need at least 5 ft and 45 kg.
- Scribes are not allowed.
- SPSC extended the last date for applications to 7 August 2026 because of problems on the online portal; other terms stayed the same.

Physical Efficiency Test standards (level A earns 15 marks, B 12, C 9; below C disqualifies)
- 100 m race: level A under 13 seconds for men and 16.5 seconds for women; slower than 15 or 18.5 seconds fails
- 1500 m race: level A under 5.5 minutes for men and 6.0 minutes for women; slower than 7.5 or 9.0 minutes fails
- High jump: level A above 1.45 m for men and 1.20 m for women; below 1.15 m or 0.90 m fails
- Long jump: level A above 4.55 m for men and 3.45 m for women; below 3.65 m or 2.65 m fails
- Shot put (16 lb for men, 12 lb for women): level A above 7.10 m or 5.10 m; below 5.10 m or 4.10 m fails
What they ask
The written paper is worth 100 marks and covers two areas: general English (composition, reasoning and grammar, set as MCQs) and general knowledge about Sikkim and India, with current affairs of state and national importance. The physical test here is scored, not just pass or fail. Each of its five events gives 15, 12 or 9 marks depending on your level, so the PET can add up to 75 marks to a total of 175. Falling below the lowest level in any event means disqualification.
How to prepare
- Treat the PET as a scoring paper. Moving from level C to level A in all five events is worth 30 extra marks, close to a third of the written test.
- Get your written score up first. Only about ten candidates per vacancy in each category reach the PET, and they are called in order of written marks.
- For general knowledge, cover Sikkim's history, geography, culture, tourism and development along with national topics and state current affairs.
- Practise grammar and sentence composition MCQs every day, since the English section is fully objective.

How to apply
- Complete the one-time registration on SPSC's upgraded recruitment portal (RPA 3.0) at spscrecruitment.sikkim.gov.in. If you were registered on the old portal, use the same email ID so your earlier records link up.
- Apply online against the advertisement before the last date. SPSC rejects applications sent any other way.
- Pay the ₹200 application fee online by net banking or a debit or credit card. It is not refunded.
- Download the e-admit card after SPSC posts a notice for it, and bring it to the centre with a photo ID such as Aadhaar, a voter card or a driving licence.
