About Nagaland Police Constable
Nagaland Police recruits Constable (GD) through an open rally run by a Departmental Recruitment Board and district screening committees at every district headquarters. The advertisement of 30 September 2025 had 1,176 posts at Pay Level 3, shared among districts by tribal ratio; an addendum of 6 November 2025 also split the 144 posts for Dimapur, Chumoukedima and Niuland among the Naga tribes by tribal ratio. Only Indigenous Inhabitants belonging to Naga tribes of Nagaland can apply, and new recruits are first posted to IR battalions.

General category: 18–38 years, counted on 30 September 2025 (date of the advertisement).
Age relaxation
- The 18 to 38 range in the 2025 advertisement is a one-time age relaxation under P&AR office memorandum No. AR/ESTT-10/4/2024/297 of 26 February 2024.
- Serving government employees get age concession as per government notifications.
Qualification
Class 8 pass for Indigenous Naga tribes and Class 6 pass for backward tribes, from NBSE or any recognised school board.
Other conditions
- Only Indigenous Inhabitants belonging to Naga tribes of Nagaland are eligible; non-indigenous applicants cannot apply.
- You apply against one district only and must take every test in that district.
- For Dimapur, Chumoukedima and Niuland, the 6 November 2025 addendum requires applicants to live in those districts and hold certificates issued by their district authorities.
- Physical standards: men 162 cm height and 78 cm chest (83 cm expanded); women 152 cm height and 74 cm chest (79 cm expanded), with weight in proportion to height.
- Colour blindness, knock knees, flat feet, squint, hearing loss or corrected distance vision worse than 6/6 and 6/9 disqualify a candidate. The medical includes drug and alcohol tests.
- Selected recruits can be posted within or outside Nagaland.

What they ask
The written test comes after the physical tests and has 80 multiple-choice questions for 40 marks in two hours, in English only. The advertisement lists general awareness, science, Indian history and polity, social sciences, elementary maths, sports, Naga culture and heritage, Nagaland and its tribes, and mental aptitude. The PET carries more marks than the written test (45 against 40), and the interview adds 10, with up to 5 more for an NCC certificate.
How to prepare
- Train for the PET first. It is worth 45 marks, and you are out if the run takes longer than 12 minutes (3 km for men, 2 km for women) or you manage fewer than 8 pull-ups (men) or 3 (women).
- Aim above the minimum: finishing the run in 10 minutes earns the full 20 marks, and 12 pull-ups for men or 8 for women earns the full 15.
- For the written test, give real time to Naga culture, Nagaland's tribes and districts, and sports, which the advertisement names alongside general GK.
- If you hold an NCC certificate, keep it ready for the interview: C can add up to 5 marks, B up to 3 and A up to 2.

How to apply
- Apply online on the Nagaland Police registration portal (nagalandpolicerecruitment.in); forms are not issued at PHQ or district offices.
- Choose the one district you are eligible for as per the tribal-ratio allocation in Annexure 1.
- Upload your Class 6 or Class 8 certificate, ID proof, Indigenous Inhabitant/ST/BT certificate and proof of date of birth.
- Pay the Rs 300 exam fee online and download the admit card generated after submission.
