About Manipur AE (MPSC)
MPSC's Advt. No. 01/2026, dated 3 February 2026, invited applications for 130 Group-A posts of Assistant Engineer/Manager in Manipur government departments and the state power companies. Of these, 108 are civil posts (39 in PWD, 28 in PHED, 20 in Water Resources and the rest in other departments and MSPDCL) and 22 are electrical Manager posts in MSPDCL (14) and MSPCL (8), all at Level 9. Applications closed on 28 February 2026. The written exam was first set for 4 to 6 April and later 25 to 27 April 2026, but MPSC deferred it on 18 April 2026 and said a fresh date would be notified.
Eligibility
Age limit
General category: 21–38 years, counted on 1 July 2026.
Age relaxation
- OBC: 3 years
- ST: 5 years
- PwBD: 10 years
- The notice allows 5 years for SC and ST, 3 years for OBC and 10 years for persons with disabilities, but gives no relaxation to a category that has no reserved post. No post in Advt. No. 01/2026 is reserved for SC, so SC candidates get no category relaxation in this cycle.
- Manipur government employees get relaxation equal to their continuous service, on top of any category relaxation.

Civil posts: a degree or AMIE in Civil Engineering or equivalent, or a 3-year Civil Engineering diploma with at least 5 years of regular service as SO Grade-I or an equivalent post. Electrical posts: a degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, or a 3-year Electrical Engineering diploma with at least 5 years as SO Grade-I or an equivalent post.
Other conditions
- You must be an Indian citizen and able to speak Manipuri, Meitei/Meetei lon or a tribal dialect of Manipur.
- You must be a permanent resident of Manipur, or have a parent or direct ancestor who was one, with proof such as electoral roll enrolment and a birth certificate.
- Date of birth is taken only from the Matriculation/HSLC or equivalent certificate.
- Candidates in service must upload a no objection certificate.

What they ask
The MPSC AE exam tests the same engineering syllabus twice: first in two 2-hour objective papers and then in two 3-hour conventional papers, all at engineering degree level. A 200-mark General Ability Test covers General English and general studies such as current events, everyday science, Indian history and geography. Calculators are allowed only in the conventional papers, not the objective ones. Those who qualify face a 200-mark personality test that looks at leadership, initiative, practical sense and integrity.
How to prepare
- Prepare every topic for both formats. The objective papers need quick recall and short calculations, while the conventional papers need full derivations and design working on the same syllabus.
- Practise objective questions without a calculator, since MPSC does not allow one in the test booklets.
- Civil aspirants should revise limit state and working stress design along with CPM and PERT network problems, which appear in Paper-I.
- Electrical aspirants should not skip microprocessors, communication systems and power electronics; they make up half of the Paper-II topic list.

How to apply
- Apply online on www.empsconline.gov.in.
- Upload documents, photo and signature, and a no objection certificate if you are in service.
- Pay the fee online: Rs 600 for General and OBC, Rs 400 for SC and ST, no fee for differently abled persons.
