About Ladakh Police Constable

LPSSRB recruits constables for the general cadre of Ladakh Police, which covers the Executive, Armed/IRP and SDRF wings plus the Border and Women Battalions. Advertisement Notification No. 02 of 2026, dated 24 August 2026, has 331 vacancies: 141 in Executive, Armed/IRP and SDRF, 168 in the Border Battalion and 22 in the Women Battalion. Border and Women Battalion posts are split district by district, and you can only compete for your own district. The post is at Level 2 of the pay matrix, and recruitment follows the Ladakh Police (Subordinate) Service Recruitment (Revised) Rules, 2026 and Standing Order No. 422 of 2026.

Eligibility

Age limit

General category: 18–28 years, counted on 1 January 2026.

Age relaxation

  • SC: 5 years
  • ST: 5 years
  • SC, ST and ALC candidates (residents of areas next to the Actual Line of Control) get 5 extra years.
  • Serving Ladakh Police SPOs with at least three years of continuous engagement, and Voluntary Home Guards with at least five, can apply up to 37 years.
  • Ex-servicemen get relaxation under the DoPT and UT rules, with their period of military service deducted from their age.
  • Age is taken from the date of birth in your Matriculation certificate.

Qualification

Class 10 (Matriculation) pass from a recognised board, held on or before the last date of application. Serving Ladakh Police SPOs with at least three years of continuous engagement may apply with Class 8 pass.

Other conditions

  • You need a valid Domicile Certificate of the Union Territory of Ladakh.
  • Women Battalion vacancies are open to women only. Border Battalion vacancies need a domicile certificate for an eligible border village.
  • Physical standards: men need 162 cm height and an 81 cm chest expanding to 85 cm; women need 152 cm height.
  • Horizontal reservation: 15% for serving SPOs with three years' engagement, 4% for Voluntary Home Guards with five years, 4% for outstanding sportspersons, 20% for ex-Agniveers and 6% for ex-servicemen.

Physical Endurance Test

Mode: Qualifying; each event must be cleared separately

Men: long jump of 12 feet (three attempts) and 20 push-ups
Women: 1,200 m race in 7 minutes 30 seconds
Women: long jump of 9 feet and 4 kg shot put of 14.5 feet (three attempts each)

What they ask

The written paper has 100 one-mark questions in 80 minutes at roughly Class 10 level, and no marks are cut for wrong answers. General knowledge carries 60 of the 100 marks, and the syllabus names Ladakh's own history, art, culture, geography and current affairs next to Indian history, polity, economy, awards and sports. Reasoning (15 marks) covers analogies, coding-decoding and number and alphabet series. Arithmetic (15 marks) runs from percentages and profit and loss to time and work, clocks, calendars and simple bar-graph questions, and general science (10 marks) stays at Class 10 level. You only reach the written test after clearing the PST, the PET and document scrutiny.

How to prepare

  • Spend most of your study hours on general knowledge, since it is 60 of the 100 marks. Keep a separate notebook for Ladakh's history, culture, geography and current affairs, because the syllabus lists them by name.
  • Answer every question in the written test. There is no negative marking, so a blank is the only way to lose a mark you could have guessed.
  • Start running practice early. You must finish the long race in 7 minutes 30 seconds (1,600 m for men, 1,200 m for women), and if you fail the race you are not allowed to try the long jump and the remaining event.
  • Collect bonus marks where you can. An NCC C certificate adds 5% of the written marks, B adds 3% and A adds 2%, and a transport-endorsed LMV licence or a one-year AICTE-recognised computer course lets you take the desired qualification test for up to 5% more.
  • For reasoning and arithmetic, do short daily topic-wise practice quizzes on the free Improvam app and time yourself, so 100 questions in 80 minutes feels normal.

How to apply

  1. Open the application link on the Ladakh Police website (police.ladakh.gov.in) during the application window.
  2. Fill in your name and date of birth exactly as in your Matriculation certificate; date of birth and category cannot be edited after submission.
  3. Choose Leh or Kargil as your centre and rank the unit groups you are eligible for: Executive/Armed/IRP/SDRF, Border Battalion and Women Battalion.
  4. Upload your photograph and pay the fee online (Rs 600 for UR and EWS, Rs 500 for SC, ST and ALC).
  5. Keep a printout or PDF of the submitted form and download admit cards only from the Ladakh Police website.

  • Photo: Recent colour passport-size photo in JPG/JPEG, up to 500 KB, on a white background and not older than three months. About 3.5 cm wide and 4.5 cm high, with the face filling 60 to 70% of the frame, no cap and no spectacles.
