About Kerala PSC LDC

LD Clerk is the SSLC-level clerk recruitment Kerala PSC runs for state government departments, district by district. It also covers the Clerk/Village Assistant post in the Revenue Department. The latest round was Category No. 503/2023, with a separate ranked list for each of the 14 districts and a pay scale of ₹26,500–60,700.

Eligibility

Age limit

General category: 18–36 years, counted on 1 January 2023.

Age relaxation

  • OBC: 3 years
  • SC: 5 years
  • ST: 5 years
  • The upper limit can never go past 50, whatever concessions you combine.
  • Ex-servicemen get relaxation equal to their defence service plus up to five years of unemployment after discharge.
  • Differently abled candidates get up to 10 or 15 years, depending on the disability category.

Qualification

Pass in SSLC or an equivalent. Higher qualifications that include an SSLC pass are also accepted.

Other conditions

  • You choose one district and can write the test only at centres in that district.
  • People already holding this post in any district cannot apply.
  • Clerks advised to the Revenue Department are sent for survey training if they have not passed the Chain Survey Test.

What they ask

The LDC test is a 100-mark paper set at SSLC standard. Half the marks come from general knowledge, where Kerala history, Kerala governance and a short list of important laws sit next to national topics. Current affairs is worth 20 marks on its own, the biggest single block in the paper. Arithmetic and reasoning, English and the regional language make up the last 30 marks.

How to prepare

  • Treat current affairs as a main subject. At 20 marks it outweighs every single general knowledge unit.
  • The important laws unit names five areas (RTI, consumer rights, SC/ST and senior citizen protection, domestic violence and POCSO), so you can finish it with the bare Acts and a few revisions.
  • Work through Kerala PSC's previous LDC question papers on the commission's website to see how Kerala history and renaissance questions are framed.
  • Keep SSLC-level arithmetic (percentage, ratio, interest, time and work) fresh with daily topic-wise practice quizzes on the free Improvam app.

How to apply

  1. Create a One Time Registration profile on keralapsc.gov.in, or log in to the one you already have.
  2. Open the notification and click 'Apply Now' against the category number. Kerala PSC charges no application fee.
  3. When the exam programme comes out, submit your confirmation to write the test from your profile within the window given. Applications without a confirmation are rejected.
  4. Download the admission ticket from your profile. It opens in the last 15 days before the test.

Photo and signature

  • Photo: JPG, 200 pixels high and 150 pixels wide, up to 30 KB, face and shoulders clearly visible on a white or light background. A new One Time Registration profile needs a photo taken within the last six months, with your name and the date printed at the bottom.
  • Signature: JPG, 150 pixels wide and 100 pixels high, up to 30 KB. A blank, unclear or incomplete signature image gets the application rejected.

Kerala PSC LDC FAQs

For Category No. 503/2023 you had to be born between 2 January 1987 and 1 January 2005, so 18 to 36. OBC candidates get 3 extra years and SC/ST candidates 5, and nobody can go past 50.
