About Kerala Police Constable
Kerala PSC recruits men as Police Constable (Trainee) for Kerala Police's Armed Police Battalions. Selection is battalion-wise: you apply to one of seven battalions, each covering a group of revenue districts, and each gets its own ranked list. The latest round, Category No. 563/2025, closed on 14 January 2026 and carries a pay scale of ₹31,100–66,800.

General category: 18–26 years, counted on 1 January 2025.
Age relaxation
- OBC: 3 years
- SC: 5 years
- ST: 5 years
- Ex-servicemen: 15 years
- The upper limit rises to 29 for OBC, 31 for SC/ST and 41 for ex-servicemen. No other age concessions apply to this post.
Qualification
Pass in HSE (Plus Two) or an equivalent. SC/ST candidates who failed Plus Two may be considered if there are not enough qualified candidates for the reserved quota.
Other conditions
- Height at least 168 cm and chest 81 cm with 5 cm expansion (SC/ST: 160 cm and 76 cm, with the same 5 cm expansion).
- Distant vision 6/6 and near vision 0.5 Snellen in each eye without glasses. Colour blindness, squint or any morbid eye condition disqualifies.
- Pass any five of the eight National Physical Efficiency one-star events, for example 100 m in 14 seconds, long jump 457.2 cm, 8 pull-ups and 1500 m in 5 minutes 44 seconds.
- NCC A, B and C certificates add 2%, 3% and 5% weightage. SPC certificate holders and sportspersons also get weightage.
- Women and differently abled candidates cannot apply. You may apply to only one battalion.

What they ask
The written test carries 100 marks. Twenty of them come from job-related law: the three new criminal laws (BNS, BNSS and BSA), the Kerala Police Act, NDPS, POCSO, IT and RTI, with the exact sections listed in the syllabus. General knowledge is 40 marks spread over nine small units. Current affairs, arithmetic and reasoning, English and the regional language are 10 marks each.
How to prepare
- Study the BNS, BNSS and BSA sections the syllabus names (definitions, general exceptions, offences against women and children) straight from the bare Acts.
- Pick the five PET events you are strongest in and train to the one-star standard. If the 1500 m is one of them, you need 5 minutes 44 seconds or better.
- Check your height, chest and eyesight early. Anyone below the measurements is not allowed into the PET, and vision is tested without glasses.
- Keep your NCC certificate ready if you have one, since A, B and C certificates add 2%, 3% and 5% weightage.

How to apply
- Create a One Time Registration profile on keralapsc.gov.in, or log in to the one you already have.
- Open the notification and click 'Apply Now' against the category number. Kerala PSC charges no application fee.
- When the exam programme comes out, submit your confirmation to write the test from your profile within the window given. Applications without a confirmation are rejected.
- Download the admission ticket from your profile. It opens in the last 15 days before the test.
Photo and signature
- Photo: JPG, 200 pixels high and 150 pixels wide, up to 30 KB, face and shoulders clearly visible on a white or light background. A new One Time Registration profile needs a photo taken within the last six months, with your name and the date printed at the bottom.
- Signature: JPG, 150 pixels wide and 100 pixels high, up to 30 KB. A blank, unclear or incomplete signature image gets the application rejected.

Category No. 563/2025 required you to be born between 2 January 1999 and 1 January 2007, so 18 to 26. OBC candidates can be up to 29, SC/ST up to 31 and ex-servicemen up to 41.
