About JSSC ANM
JSSC recruits female health workers (ANM) for Jharkhand's Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Department through the Jharkhand ANM Competitive Examination. The 2025 cycle had two advertisements with one common exam: No. 03/2025 for 3,020 regular posts across 24 districts and No. 04/2025 for 161 backlog posts. Only women could apply. The written test is short, and the merit list also counts your matric, intermediate and ANM marks and any contract work in Jharkhand government hospitals.

- The brochure lists 40 for unreserved and EWS, 42 for EBC and BC men, 43 for women of the unreserved, EWS, EBC and BC groups, and 45 for SC and ST candidates. As the post is only for women, 43 is the general limit shown here.
- Candidates already working on contract get an upper limit of 55 if they have completed at least five years of contract service.

- Community health nursing
- Health promotion: nutrition, human body and hygiene, environmental sanitation, mental health
- Primary health care: infection and immunisation, communicable diseases, community health problems, primary medical care, first aid and referral
- Child health nursing
- Midwifery, safe motherhood and family welfare
- Health centre management and national health programmes
What they ask
The written test is 50 multiple-choice questions in 60 minutes, 1 mark each, with no negative marking. Questions come from the ANM course: community health, nutrition and hygiene, immunisation and communicable diseases, first aid, child health, midwifery and sub-centre management. The written score is only 50 of the 150 merit marks, so your academic marks and contract experience also matter. Unreserved and EWS candidates need at least 40% in the written test.
How to prepare
- Give midwifery the most revision time; it is the longest unit in the Appendix XIV syllabus, from antenatal care to high-risk pregnancy and family welfare.
- Attempt all 50 questions, since there is no negative marking.
- Check your Jharkhand Nursing Council registration is current before you apply, because it must be valid on the last date.
- Keep your matric, intermediate and ANM marksheets and any contract experience certificate ready, as each adds merit marks.
