About HPRCA Clerk

HPRCA, the state selection commission at Hamirpur, recruits clerks for the Himachal Pradesh government. Advertisement No. 13/2026 (Post Code 26045) was for 40 Clerk posts in the Secretariat Administration Services. Selected candidates join as Job Trainees under the state's Job Trainee Scheme-2025 on a consolidated Rs. 12,500 a month.

Eligibility

Age limit

General category: 18–45 years, counted on 1 January 2026.

Age relaxation

• OBC: 5 years
• SC: 5 years
• ST: 5 years
• PwBD: 5 years
• Ex-servicemen: 5 years
• Up to 5 years for SC, ST, OBC and PwD candidates domiciled in Himachal Pradesh, H.P. government employees and ex-servicemen of H.P.

Qualification

A bachelor's degree from a recognised university and a computer typing speed of at least 30 words per minute in English or 25 words per minute in Hindi.

Other conditions

• You must have passed matriculation and 10+2 from a school in Himachal Pradesh; this does not apply to bonafide Himachalis.
• Minimum qualifying marks in the CBT: 45% for General and 40% for SC, ST, OBC and WFF candidates.
• Reserved-category candidates from other states are treated as General.

What they ask

The screening test has 120 multiple-choice questions of 1 mark each in one and a half hours. The advertisement lists general knowledge with a Himachal focus, current affairs, Matric-level science, reasoning, social science, English and Hindi, and word processing. If the test runs in several shifts, scores are normalised. Shortlisted candidates then take a qualifying typing test on computer.

How to prepare

• Practise typing on a computer, not a phone. You need 30 wpm in English or 25 wpm in Hindi to clear the skill test.
• Learn basic word processing tasks such as formatting, tables and find and replace, since word processing is a named syllabus item.
• Aim well above 45% in the CBT. That is only the minimum for General candidates, and merit decides who is called for typing.
• Use the topic-wise practice quizzes on the free Improvam app for a short daily round of Himachal GK, reasoning and Matric-level English and Hindi.

2. Apply online for Post Code 26045 at hprca.hp.gov.in
3. Upload a passport-size photo not older than one month and your signature (JPG, JPEG or PNG, up to 1 MB each)
