About Delhi Police Head Constable
Head Constable (Ministerial) is an office and clerical post in Delhi Police, in Group C at Pay Level 4. SSC runs the computer based exam, and Delhi Police holds the physical, typing and computer formatting tests. The 2025 notice listed 341 vacancies for men and 168 for women; SSC revised these in February 2026 to 306 for men and 150 for women, plus one backlog PwBD post. A few posts are reserved for candidates with locomotor disability, who work in a civilian role without uniform.

- PwBD: 10 years
- PwBD candidates get 10 years (13 for OBC, 15 for SC/ST). Only candidates with a locomotor disability of 40% or more affecting one or both legs are eligible under PwBD.
- Ex-servicemen get 3 years after deducting their military service from their actual age.

What they ask
The computer based exam has 100 one-mark questions in 90 minutes with 0.25 mark cut per wrong answer. English and general intelligence carry 25 questions each, quant and general awareness 20 each, and computer basics 10. Quant goes beyond arithmetic into school algebra, geometry and mensuration. After the physical test, the typing test adds up to 25 marks: 30 wpm in English earns 10 marks, rising to the full 25 above 50 wpm.
How to prepare
- Typing marks count in the merit, so push your speed well past the 30 wpm minimum. Above 50 wpm in English, or 45 in Hindi, earns the full 25 marks.
- Prepare quant beyond arithmetic. The syllabus includes algebraic identities, triangle centres, circles and mensuration of solids.
- Practise MS Word formatting as well, because Delhi Police holds a separate computer formatting test after the typing test.
