About PSSSB JE
PSSSB recruits junior engineers in the civil, mechanical and electrical branches as a Group B post for Punjab government departments. Advertisement No. 07 of 2026 first tied the post count to requisitions received up to 30 September 2026, but a corrigendum of 1 September 2026 withdrew that clause and reopened applications. The board's notice of 17 September 2026 puts the total at 262 posts.

Part A general section (40 marks)
- GK and current affairs (about 10)
- Punjab history and culture (about 5)

Part B civil engineering (80 marks)
- Engineering drawing, applied mechanics and fluid mechanics
- Surveying, construction materials and building construction

What they ask
All three branches get the same two-hour paper of 120 one-mark questions. Part A has 40 general questions on GK, Punjab history and culture, reasoning, Punjabi, English and computers, and Part B has 80 questions from your own diploma subject. Every wrong answer in either part costs a quarter mark. The board has published a separate Part B syllabus for civil, mechanical and electrical, so download the one for your branch.
How to prepare
- Put most of your time into Part B. The subject questions are two-thirds of the paper.
- Cover the whole diploma syllabus rather than a few favourite subjects. The civil list runs from drawing and surveying to quantity surveying and construction management.
- Do not drop Part A. Punjab history and culture, Punjabi and English together carry about 15 marks and need only short revision.
- Guess only when you can rule out options, because every wrong answer in either part costs 0.25 marks.
