About OSSC CGL
OSSC uses the CGL exam to fill graduate-level Group B and Group C posts in Odisha government departments. The posts above are some of the 18 that the state's 2022 rules bring under this exam; each year's advertisement fixes the actual list and vacancy count. The CGLRE-2025 cycle (Advertisement No. 5751/OSSC dated 12.12.2025) had reached the certificate verification stage by September 2026.

Other conditions
- Age limits come from each post's recruitment rules, so read the age table in the current advertisement.
- You must be able to speak, read and write Odia, shown through one of the routes in the rules, such as passing Middle School with Odia as a language subject or Matriculation with Odia as the medium in a non-language subject.

What they ask
The preliminary paper covers Class 10 arithmetic, data interpretation, reasoning, current events and basic computer awareness. The main exam then checks language: comprehension, precis, usage and English-Odia translation in both directions. The General Studies paper leans on the Constitution, economy, geography and the history of India and Odisha at Plus Two level. If you are aiming for a post that needs the Computer Skill Test or the Mathematics test, you must clear 50% there as well.
How to prepare
- Practise English-to-Odia and Odia-to-English translation every week, because the main language paper tests translation in both directions.
- Build Odisha history and geography notes alongside Indian polity and economy, since the main GS paper names History of Odisha as a separate topic.
- For the preliminary paper, time yourself on Class 10 arithmetic and data interpretation sets, the first two areas in the 150-mark syllabus.
- If you want Auditor, revise secondary-level algebra, statistics and mensuration early, as the Mathematics test is compulsory for those posts.
