About Odisha Police Constable
The State Selection Board of Odisha Police recruits Sepoys and Constables for the armed battalions. The latest battalion advertisement we found, No. 02/SSB dated 22.09.2024, opened with 1360 posts; Addendum No. 04/SSB of 23.10.2024 added 720 more, for 2080 in all, at Level 5 of the pay matrix (Rs 21,700 to Rs 69,100). This recruitment is for men only; the advertisement does not admit women, transgender or PwD candidates.

Qualification
Passed the High School Certificate (Class 10) exam of BSE Odisha or an equivalent board. If your board is outside Odisha, you must show proof of equivalence and affiliation at document verification.
Other conditions
- You must speak, read and write Odia and have passed Odia as a subject in HSC or an Odia language exam.
- Minimum height and weight: 168 cm and 55 kg for UR and SEBC men (chest 79 cm, 84 cm expanded); 163 cm and 50 kg for SC and ST men (chest 76 cm, 81 cm expanded).
- Physical efficiency test: 1.6 km run in 6 minutes, broad jump of 4 m and high jump of 1.38 m, 3 attempts each.

What they ask
The written test is 100 one-mark objective questions in 120 minutes at the level of a Class 10 pass-out. Questions come in English and Odia, except the Odia language section. You need at least 35 marks if you are UR or SEBC and 30 if you are SC or ST, and each wrong answer costs 0.25 marks. After that, the running and jumping events decide who stays in the race.
How to prepare
- Clear the qualifying mark first: 35 out of 100 for UR and SEBC, 30 for SC and ST. Anything below that ends the process.
- Train for the 1.6 km run in 6 minutes along with the 4 m broad jump and 1.38 m high jump well before the written result.
- Revise Class 10 arithmetic, Odia grammar and basic computer terms, which the advertisement names as written test areas.
- If you hold a driving licence for six months or more, take the optional driving test; it adds up to 5 marks.
