About OPSC AEE Civil
OPSC recruits Assistant Executive Engineers (Civil) for the state's Group A engineering cadres. The latest advertisement, No. 07 of 2026-27 (notice dated 4 August 2026), is for 46 posts, 15 of them for women, in the Odisha Municipal Engineering Service under the Housing & Urban Development Department. The post is at Level 12 of the ORSP 2017 pay matrix.

Qualification
A degree in Civil Engineering from a recognised university or institution, or Associate Membership of the Institution of Engineers (India) in Civil.

- You must know Odia, for example by having passed Middle School with Odia as a language subject.
- The date of birth in your HSC or equivalent certificate is the only one accepted.

What they ask
Every written stage is objective with 25% negative marking, so accuracy matters as much as coverage. The preliminary paper is 100 degree-level Civil Engineering questions in 90 minutes and only decides who reaches the main exam. In the main exam, Paper II carries 300 marks of core civil topics such as structural analysis, RCC, steel design and materials. Paper I tests general science and Odisha-focused general knowledge at +2 level.
How to prepare
- Give Paper II the most time: 300 of the 550 merit marks come from its 150 Civil Engineering questions.
- Prepare Odisha-specific GS for Paper I, since the syllabus names Odisha's culture, physiography, economy, freedom movement and Panchayati Raj.
- Practise 100-question civil sets in 90 minutes to match the preliminary paper's pace.
