About HP TGT TET
The TGT TET is the HPBOSE eligibility test for Trained Graduate Teacher posts in Himachal schools. There are separate papers for TGT Arts, Non-Medical and Medical, plus TGT Hindi, TGT Sanskrit, Punjabi, Urdu and special educator papers. In the November 2026 session, TGT Arts is on 22 November, Non-Medical on 29 November and Medical on 6 December 2026.
Eligibility
Qualification
For TGT Arts, Non-Medical and Medical: a B.A./B.Com, B.Sc. (Non-Medical) or B.Sc. (Medical) as relevant, with at least 50% in graduation or post-graduation, plus a 1-year B.Ed. Other routes include 55% with a 3-year integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed., 10+2 with 50% plus a 4-year integrated B.A.Ed./B.Sc.Ed. or B.El.Ed, a B.Ed. (Special Education), or being in B.Ed. with the required graduation marks.
Other conditions
- There is no upper age limit to sit the TET; the recruiting authority applies its own age rules at the time of appointment.
- You need 60% (90 of 150) to pass; SC, ST, OBC and PHH candidates need 55% (82 of 150).
- The HP TET certificate is valid for life, and you can reappear to improve your score.

What they ask
Every TGT TET paper has 150 one-mark questions in two and a half hours with no negative marking. The first 60 questions are common to Arts, Non-Medical and Medical: 30 on child psychology and pedagogy for ages 11 to 14 and 30 on general awareness, Himachal and EVS. The remaining 90 are on your teaching subjects, set on the classes VI to VIII syllabus but up to 10+2 difficulty.
How to prepare
- Score well in the common 60 questions first. Pedagogy and Himachal general awareness are the same for all three streams and are easier to cover fully.
- Practise class IX to XII level numericals for Non-Medical and Medical; the prospectus says difficulty can reach 10+2.
- Attempt all 150 questions, as there is no negative marking.
- Use the topic-wise practice quizzes on the free Improvam app for a short daily round of pedagogy and Himachal general awareness.

How to apply
- Apply online on hpbose.org during the dates in the prospectus
- Submit a separate form and fee for each TGT category
