About HP JBT TET
HP TET is the teacher eligibility test held by the H.P. Board of School Education, Dharamshala. Passing the JBT TET is needed to be considered for Junior Basic Teacher posts in Himachal schools. It is an eligibility test, not a recruitment, so it has no vacancies; the November 2026 session holds the JBT paper on 22 November 2026.

(Special Education), or graduation with D.El.Ed. Candidates still pursuing JBT/D.El.Ed with 50% in 10+2 or graduation can also appear.
Other conditions
- There is no upper age limit to sit the TET; the recruiting authority applies its own age rules at the time of appointment.
- You need 60% (90 of 150) to pass; SC, ST, OBC and PHH candidates need 55% (82 of 150).
- The HP TET certificate is valid for life, and you can reappear to improve your score.

What they ask
The JBT TET has 150 one-mark questions in two and a half hours, split into five equal sections of 30. Pedagogy questions focus on children aged 6 to 11. The subject sections follow the state syllabus for classes I to V but can go up to 10+2 level in difficulty. There is no negative marking.
How to prepare
- Attempt every question. There is no negative marking, so a blank is a mark thrown away.
- Give Hindi and English grammar equal time; together they are 60 of the 150 marks.
- Read the H.P. Board textbooks for classes I to V in maths and EVS, then practise questions a level higher.
- Use the topic-wise practice quizzes on the free Improvam app for a short daily round of child development, maths and Himachal GK.

- Apply online on hpbose.org during the dates in the prospectus
- Submit a separate form and fee for each TET category you want
- Upload a JPG photo under 20 KB (3.5 x 4.5 cm) and a JPG signature under 15 KB (3.5 x 1.5 cm)
