About TN Police Constable
The Tamil Nadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board (TNUSRB) fills Grade II Police Constable, Grade II Jail Warder and Fireman posts through one common recruitment. Notification No. 2/2025, dated 21 August 2025, announced 3,644 vacancies plus 21 shortfall vacancies: 2,833 in the police, 180 jail warder posts and 631 fireman posts. The pay scale is Rs 18,200 to 67,100.

What they ask
The written exam has two parts. Part I is an 80-question Tamil language eligibility test at Class 10 level in 80 minutes, and you need 32 marks (40%) or your main paper is not evaluated. Part II is the main written test: 70 one-mark questions in 80 minutes, 45 on general knowledge and 25 on psychology, which covers communication, numerical and logical analysis, mental ability and information handling. You need at least 25 marks in Part II. About five candidates per vacancy are then called for certificate verification and the physical tests. The final 100 marks are the written test (70), the PET (24) and special marks (6).
How to prepare
- Clear the Tamil test first. Grammar, error correction and Tamil words for English terms from the Class 10 state syllabus come up, and 32 out of 80 is the minimum.
- The general knowledge questions are set at Class 10 level, so revise the state board science and social science textbooks before moving to current affairs.
- Practise the psychology section with timed sets of number series, logical puzzles and passage-based questions; 70 questions in 80 minutes leaves little spare time.
- Start fitness training alongside written preparation. The physical efficiency test carries 24 of the 100 final marks, and the measurement and endurance tests must be cleared first.
- Keep NCC, NSS and sports certificates ready; each can add up to 2 special marks, 6 in all.
