A strong GD computer-test score does not complete the selection process. Keep the next stage in view while you prepare for the current one.
The GD 2026 notice sets an 80-question, 160-mark CBE lasting 60 minutes, with 0.25 deducted per wrong answer. Shortlisted candidates proceed through physical tests, medical examination and document verification. Official GD 2026 notice, paragraphs 1 and 12.
Keep a separate record for every stage
Use one page for CBE practice and another for recruitment requirements. A mock score belongs on the first. Your physical-test standard, certificate requirement or reporting instruction belongs on the second.
For the CBE, review each subject instead of only the total. If you repeatedly miss questions because you read a number incorrectly, an extra current-affairs video will not fix that problem. If your arithmetic is accurate but slow, use short mixed sets after revising the method.
Save any official response sheet while it remains available. Calculate your raw score for review, but use SSC's actual result and cutoff notice to establish whether you have been shortlisted.
Do not confuse PET with PST
PET concerns the prescribed physical activity; PST concerns measurements and the applicable standards. Check both against your category and region.
For candidates outside the Ladakh-specific provisions, the 2026 notice states a race of 5 km in 24 minutes for men and 1.6 km in 8½ minutes for women. Ladakh has a separate row. Official PET table, paragraph 12.4.
Copy the row that applies to you, together with the clause number. Do not use the Havaldar walking test or a state-police standard as your GD requirement. If you also applied for Havaldar, the MTS/Havaldar comparison keeps those routes distinct.
Plan physical preparation sensibly around your current health and ability. A recruitment standard is not a training prescription. If you have an injury or health concern, seek qualified advice and follow the official instructions applicable to your circumstances.
The medical and document stage needs preparation too
Make sure you can locate the certificates behind the claims in your application. A missing domicile record or an unresolved name difference takes time to investigate. Use the GD medical and document checklist before a call letter makes everything urgent.
Check the authority named in the stage notice. SSC and the coordinating CAPF have different roles, and the appropriate download route can change by stage. Read the full official notice before entering details into a link forwarded through a group.
Keep the admission certificate, reporting instructions and later corrections together. If a revised notice affects one centre, read its scope rather than assuming it applies to everyone.
