MTS and Havaldar appear in the same recruitment notice, but a Havaldar shortlist can lead to a physical-test appointment. Check the post before using someone else's next-step advice.
Under the 2025 notice, Havaldar adds PET/PST to the computer examination. The walking test specifies 1,600 metres in 15 minutes for men and 1 km in 20 minutes for women. Physical standards and applicable relaxations are separate. Official MTS/Havaldar notice, paragraphs 14.7 and 18.
PET and PST answer different questions
PET tests the stated physical activity. PST checks the relevant measurements. Completing one does not establish that you meet the other.
Create a small comparison sheet for your own category and post. Copy the relevant clause number beside each requirement. If you claim a relaxation, add the document that supports it. Avoid a generic height chart with no examination year or source.
For practice, first understand the specified activity and course conditions in the official instructions. Do not replace a walking requirement with advice intended for the GD race. Equally, a comfortable walk in a familiar park does not reproduce every condition at a recruitment venue.

Read your own call letter
Write down the reporting time, full venue and documents required. Check the route before travelling, especially where a venue name has more than one branch. Keep the application details and relevant certificates available in the order the instructions request.
Use the call letter for the number of photographs or copies. Do not assume that a coaching checklist is complete. If a relaxation document is required, an unrelated certificate from a different purpose may not answer the same requirement.
A downloaded call letter is also not an eligibility guarantee. Be ready to show the evidence behind the details entered in your form.
Keep the two outcomes separate
The 2025 notice states that failure to qualify Havaldar PET/PST does not itself end MTS consideration; MTS consideration remains subject to the relevant CBE merit. Official notice, paragraph 18.8.
That does not mean an MTS post is guaranteed. Your applicable merit, preferences and other conditions still matter. Avoid translating “remains eligible for consideration” into “will be selected”.
Follow the latest notice for your region and cycle rather than a physical-test date copied from another candidate. A reschedule affecting a particular venue should be read for its exact scope.
