SSC login: registration number, password and application checks

Use the official SSC login, recover access through the right portal, and check your application before looking for an admit card or result.

Open the official SSC login and use your registration number and SSC registration password. The page also has a captcha and a Forgot Password option. SSC stands for Staff Selection Commission.

Keep your application confirmation nearby. Your registration number identifies your account; an examination roll number identifies an exam attempt. Copying the roll number from an old admit card into the registration-number field can send you into an unnecessary password reset.

Start with the correct website

Use ssc.gov.in for the current SSC portal. Search results can still show older SSC pages, regional notices and third-party guides. A regional notice can be useful, but begin account recovery from the login page linked above so you follow the form currently offered by SSC.

Check the address before entering personal details. Improvam does not host SSC login forms or need your password. If a page asks you to send an OTP to a person on WhatsApp, close it and return to the official site.

When your password does not work

First check that your browser has not filled in a password saved for a different website. Type the registration number carefully and check for spaces copied before or after it. Complete the captcha shown on the current page; refreshing the page can change it.

If you still cannot sign in:

  1. Select Forgot Password on the official login page.
  2. Enter the details that the recovery form requests, matching your registration record.
  3. Complete any verification yourself. Keep access to the registered email address and phone available.
  4. After a successful reset, update the saved password in your browser and try the login page again.

If you no longer have the required recovery contact, use SSC's published help route. Creating another account immediately can leave you unsure which registration holds your application. Keep a note of the error and the time it occurred; share a redacted screenshot with official support if requested.

Find the application you actually submitted

Signing in is only the first check. Open the entry for the exam and year you applied for, then compare it with your saved application confirmation. Check the displayed submission and payment status where applicable. Registration alone does not establish that an exam application was completed.

Keep separate records for CGL, CHSL, GD and JE. A result or admission certificate for one examination cannot answer a question about another. You can compare the routes in the SSC exam directory.

For example, if you are preparing for CGL but your screen shows a CHSL application, first switch to the correct examination entry. Repeatedly changing the account password will not fix an exam-selection mistake.

Login problems and missing documents need different checks

What you seeWhat to check next
Invalid credentialsRegistration number, saved password and the official recovery option
Captcha rejectedThe current captcha, including any refresh since you entered it
Login works but no admit card is shownCorrect exam, year, stage and the relevant release notice
Result PDF opens without a loginRead its heading and search the complete roll number

For JE, use our city slip and admission certificate guide. For CGL results, the result, marks and cut-off guide explains what each document tells you.
