About ISRO Scientist Engineer
The ISRO Centralised Recruitment Board recruits Scientist/Engineer 'SC' in Level 10 of the pay matrix. These are Group A Gazetted posts at ISRO centres and Group A Non-Gazetted posts at autonomous bodies such as the Physical Research Laboratory. Advertisement No. ISRO:ICRB:03(EMC):2026, dated 27 August 2026, covered Electronics, Mechanical and Computer Science, with applications closing on 16 September 2026. The ISRO careers page gives 19 October 2026 as the date of the CBT.

BE/B.Tech or equivalent with at least 65% aggregate marks or CGPA 6.84 on 10, in Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Computer Science Engineering to match the post.
Other conditions
- Converting CGPA to percentage to meet the 65% rule is not allowed; ISRO applies its own rules on CGPA and percentage.
- Every applicant first pays a Rs 750 processing fee through Bharatkosh. It is refunded after you appear in the written test: in full for women, SC/ST, PwBD and ex-servicemen, and less the Rs 250 application fee for everyone else.

What they ask
Part A has 80 multiple-choice questions from your engineering branch in 90 minutes, 1 mark each, with a third of a mark taken off for every wrong answer. Part B follows with up to 15 aptitude questions worth 20 marks in 30 minutes and no negative marking, covering numerical, logical, diagrammatic, abstract and deductive reasoning. The written score counts for half of the final panel and the interview for the other half.
How to prepare
- Solve the earlier ISRO papers posted on the recruitment page. ISRO has put up Electronics, Mechanical and Computer Science papers from 2023 and 2025.
- Be careful in Part A only. Wrong answers there cost a third of a mark, while Part B has no penalty, so answer every Part B question.
- Practise diagrammatic and abstract reasoning puzzles, since these are named in Part B and are less common in engineering exams.
- Prepare for the interview as seriously as the written test. It carries 50% of the final weight, so revise core subjects and your final-year project.
- Check your marksheet before applying. You need 65% or CGPA 6.84, and ISRO does not let you convert CGPA to percentage to qualify.
