About MPSC Group C

The Group C combined exam is MPSC's biggest recruitment for clerical and junior posts in state offices. Advertisement No. 017/2026 started with 2,619 posts, mostly Clerk-Typist and AMVI. A corrigendum of 22 July 2026 added new cadres, including 1,539 Talathi (Village Revenue Officer) posts and 254 Assistant Fisheries Development Officer posts, taking the total to 5,707. The prelims was moved from computer-based to an offline OMR test.

Eligibility

Age limit

General category: 18–38 years, counted on 1 October 2026.

Age relaxation

  • OBC: 5 years
  • SC: 5 years
  • ST: 5 years
  • EWS: 5 years
  • PwBD: 7 years
  • Minimum age is 18 for Tax Assistant and 19 for the other posts in the original advertisement
  • For Talathi, age is counted on 10 August 2026, the extended last date of application
  • Backward class, orphan and EWS candidates: up to 43 years
  • Sportspersons: up to 43 years
  • Ex-servicemen: 38 (or 43 for reserved categories) plus armed forces service plus 3 years
  • Divyang candidates: up to 45 years (not applicable to AMVI)
  • Clerk-Typist only: project-affected and earthquake-affected up to 45, part-time graduate employees up to 55

Other conditions

  • Knowledge of Marathi is required
  • Clerk-Typist: government typing certificate in Marathi at 30 wpm or English at 40 wpm
  • Tax Assistant: typing certificates in both Marathi (30 wpm) and English (40 wpm)
  • AMVI: one year of full-time workshop experience and a valid licence for motorcycle with gear, light motor vehicle and transport vehicles, subject to the relaxations in the advertisement
  • AMVI physical standards: men at least 163 cm with 79 cm chest and 5 cm expansion; women at least 155 cm and 45 kg
  • Talathi posts in PESA (scheduled) areas go to local Scheduled Tribe candidates under the conditions in the 5 August 2026 corrigendum

What they ask

The prelims is a one-hour, 100-question general ability paper on the same topic list MPSC uses for its non-gazetted exams: modern history with a Maharashtra focus, state geography, economy, polity, science, arithmetic and reasoning. For 2026 it is an offline OMR test, with a quarter mark lost for each wrong answer. Posts part ways at the mains: general-degree cadres share one mains, while AMVI and Assistant Fisheries Development Officer each get their own. MPSC said on 1 August 2026 that a revised detailed scheme would follow, so check the scheme page before you plan for the mains.

How to prepare

  • Get your typing certificate early if you want Clerk-Typist or Tax Assistant; you must hold it by the date MPSC fixes.
  • Practise full 100-question sets in 60 minutes on printed OMR sheets, since the 2026 prelims is an offline OMR test.
  • Use Group B prelims papers for practice too; the Group B and Group C prelims follow the same syllabus.
