About SSC Selection Post
Selection Posts are smaller recruitments that central departments send to SSC, each with its own post category number, age limit, qualification and sometimes experience or skill test. SSC advertises them together in phases, and Phase-XIV was advertised in April 2026. You apply for specific post categories and sit one computer based exam for each qualification level you apply at.
Eligibility
Age limit
General category: 18–35 years, counted on 1 January 2026.
Age relaxation
- OBC: 3 years
- SC: 5 years
- ST: 5 years
- PwBD: 10 years
- Each post category has its own age limit. In Phase-XIV the ranges run from 18 to 25 up to 18 to 35 years, and some posts have a minimum age of 20, 21, 22 or 23.
- PwBD candidates get 10 years (13 for OBC, 15 for SC/ST).
- Ex-servicemen get 3 years after deducting their military service from their actual age.

What they ask
Each qualification level has its own 100-question paper in 60 minutes, with a 15-minute timer for each part and 0.50 mark cut for each wrong answer. The difficulty follows the level: the Matriculation paper is set at Class 10 standard, and in the Graduation-level paper only the quantitative part stays at Class 10 standard. The paper is offered only in Hindi and English, and you pick the medium in the application form.
How to prepare
- Read the post details in Annexure-III before applying. Each category has its own age limit, qualification and, for some, experience or a skill test.
- Keep scanned certificates ready. After the exam you must upload documents on the SSC portal, and failing to do so gets your candidature rejected.
- With 0.50 mark cut for each wrong answer, keep guesses to a minimum.
- If a post needs typing or data entry, practise that skill alongside the written exam, since the test comes after the result.
