“Graduation level” tells you the examination level. It does not mean every graduate is eligible for every post in that group.
The Phase XIV/2026 notice uses Matriculation, Higher Secondary and Graduation-and-above levels. Its CBE scheme has four 25-question parts, 200 marks overall and an ordinary 15-minute timer per part, with 0.50 negative marking. Post-specific qualifications still need checking. Official Selection Post 2026 notice, paragraphs 10 and 15.
Begin with a post code
Write down the exact post code, regional office and qualification wording for each application you are considering. A job title alone can be ambiguous across departments and regions.
Compare the requirement with your own certificate and marksheets. If experience is specified, inspect the dates, nature of work and supporting certificate requirements. A period of work is not automatically qualifying experience merely because its duration looks sufficient.
Leave space for later corrigenda or cancellations. Keep the original advertisement too, but check what changed after it was published. Search the official regional notices using the post code as well as the post name.
Choose questions at the relevant level
Start your preparation from the syllabus for the level you applied to. A difficult mixed question bank can consume time without showing whether you are secure on the prescribed basics.
Use timed sets with the applicable sectional format. When a part ends, record how many questions remained unseen. During review, solve those before opening the answer key. This helps distinguish weak subject knowledge from poor question selection.
Keep separate records if you are preparing for more than one level. A strong score in one type of mock should not be copied into your expectations for another.
A CBE shortlist starts another check
The 2026 notice requires relevant document uploads from shortlisted candidates, followed by scrutiny and the applicable later process. Skill tests apply where prescribed. Official notice, opening instructions and paragraph 19.
Prepare a folder for each post code. Include the submitted application, educational records and evidence supporting any additional claim. Use clear file names so that a certificate for one application is not accidentally attached to another.
When a scrutiny list appears, read whether it is provisional or final and whether a representation window is provided. Note the exact reason if your entry is rejected provisionally. Respond to that reason with the requested evidence through the stated route; sending a large unrelated document bundle can obscure the point.
A high score does not repair missing essential qualifications. Check the documents while there is time to obtain a legitimate replacement or clarification from the issuing authority.
For a general practice method, see how to use free mocks. Candidates comparing routes can read the CHSL stages guide and exam guides hub.
