About AAI ATC
Airports Authority of India builds and manages civil aviation infrastructure on the ground and in Indian air space, and its Junior Executives (Air Traffic Control) are trained to control air traffic. The post is in the E-1 scale of Rs 40,000 to Rs 1,40,000, and AAI puts the approximate cost to company at Rs 13 lakh a year. The latest ATC drive, Advertisement No. 02/2025/CHQ, took online applications from 25 April to 24 May 2025 for 309 tentative vacancies. ATC is advertised separately from AAI's other Junior Executive posts.
Eligibility
Age limit
General category: Up to 27 years, counted on 24 May 2025 (Advertisement No. 02/2025/CHQ).
Age relaxation
- SC: 5 years
- ST: 5 years
- OBC: 3 years
- PwBD: 10 years
- Ex-servicemen: 5 years
- PwBD relaxation applies only where the post suits the disability. For ATC the advertisement identifies only acid attack victims, subject to the medical standards for an ATC licence.
- Ex-servicemen and commissioned officers with at least five years of military service get up to 5 years.
- Regular AAI employees who have completed probation get up to 10 years.
- Date of birth is taken only from the Class 10 certificate.

Other conditions
- Only Indian nationals can apply.
- Final-year students can apply but must have the final result by application verification.
- Selected candidates must reach ICAO English language proficiency level 4 during training, or their services can be terminated.
- Selected candidates sign a surety bond of Rs 7 lakh to serve AAI until 3 years after training.

What they ask
The CBT has 120 questions for 120 marks in two hours, split evenly between two parts. Part B is 60 questions on the basics of Physics and Mathematics at Class 12 level, testing concepts and how you apply them. Part A covers English (20 marks), reasoning (15), numerical ability (15) and general knowledge (10). There is no negative marking, and the whole merit list is drawn from this one test.
How to prepare
- Spend half your preparation on Class 12 Physics and Maths. Part B alone carries 60 of the 120 marks.
- Answer every question. The advertisement says there is no negative marking in the CBT.
- Keep English sharp beyond the exam. It is the largest Part A section, and you must later reach ICAO English level 4 during training.
- Check the fine print on your degree before applying. Physics and Mathematics must appear in your B.Sc, or in at least one semester of your engineering course.

How to apply
- Apply online through the Careers tab on aai.aero; no other mode is accepted.
- Enter your degree percentage to two decimals. If your university gives only CGPA, convert it using the university's own norms.
- Upload a recent colour photo on a white background and your signature in black ink, both in JPG.
- Pay Rs 1,000 (including GST) online. SC/ST, PwD and female candidates, and apprentices who completed one year of training in AAI, are exempt.
