About SBI Clerk
SBI hires its clerical staff directly as Junior Associates (Customer Support & Sales). The 2026 advertisement, CRPD/CR/2026-27/17, lists 7,680 regular vacancies spread across states and union territories. You can apply for only one state or UT, and you must know its local language.
Eligibility
Age limit
General category: 20–28 years, counted on 1 April 2026.
Age relaxation
- OBC: 3 years
- SC: 5 years
- ST: 5 years
- PwBD: 10 years
- You must be born between 2 April 1998 and 1 April 2006, both dates included.
- PwBD relaxation is 10 years for General/EWS, 13 for OBC and 15 for SC/ST.
- Ex-servicemen get their period of service plus 3 years (8 years for disabled ex-servicemen from SC/ST), up to an age of 50.
- Widows, divorced women and judicially separated women who have not remarried get 7 years, up to 35 (General/EWS), 38 (OBC) or 40 (SC/ST).

Other conditions
- You can apply for only one state or UT and can take the test only once under this recruitment.
- A local language test is held after the mains and before joining. If your class 10 or 12 mark sheet shows you studied the opted language, you are exempt.
- Junior Associates recruited now cannot ask for an inter-circle or inter-state transfer before finishing five years of service.

What they ask
The prelims has 100 questions in one hour with no sectional or aggregate minimum, and about ten times the vacancies in each category move to the mains on total marks. The mains has 190 questions for 200 marks in 2 hours 40 minutes. SBI sets a minimum aggregate for the mains, with 5% relaxation for reserved categories, but no sectional minimum. Reasoning here includes computer aptitude, and awareness questions focus on general and financial topics. Prelims marks are not added to the final merit list.
How to prepare
- Aim for a high prelims total rather than balanced sections, since shortlisting for the mains uses aggregate marks only.
- Revise computer basics along with reasoning. The two share one 60-mark mains test.
- Prepare banking and financial awareness properly: 50 questions carry 50 marks in the mains.
- Choose your state carefully. You can apply for only one, and you cannot move out of it for five years.
