Your SBI Junior Associate preparation should include a language check while you are working on mains. A strong written score does not remove a language requirement that applies to your application.
Checked 20 September 2026, CRPD/CR/2026-27/17: mains has 190 questions, 200 marks and 160 minutes. The opted local-language test is required before joining unless a Class 10 or 12 mark sheet/certificate shows that you studied that language. Candidates who fail the applicable test are not offered appointment. See the official 2026 Junior Associate notification.
Verify your proof now
Open your saved application and identify the opted local language. Compare it with your school records. Do not rely on your home address as proof of having studied a subject, and do not assume another recruitment's exemption wording applies here.
If you have the relevant certificate, keep the original accessible and a clear copy in your recruitment folder. If you cannot find it, begin the institution's replacement process. Leave enough time to handle a genuine document issue through the proper channel.
If you expect to take the language test, assess your actual ability. You may speak comfortably but read the script slowly. Or you may read well and struggle to explain a problem aloud. Those gaps need different practice.
Use practical language drills
Read a short public notice and explain its meaning to someone fluent. Write a brief request in the language, then ask for corrections. Use everyday subjects before moving to basic banking explanations.
For example, describe what information a person should have ready before asking about a delayed service request. Keep account numbers and personal details fictional. This is an original practice exercise, not a description of an announced official test question.
Keep a vocabulary page for words you repeatedly need. Review them in sentences rather than as an isolated translation list. Being able to recognise a word is different from using it clearly when somebody asks a follow-up question.
Do not let this replace mains preparation
Set a modest recurring slot for language work and keep the larger preparation block for the written examination. The balance should reflect your current ability. A fluent candidate with documented study has a different task from someone who needs sustained language practice.
For mains, check that your mock follows the current structure and separate section times. Review financial-awareness mistakes as knowledge gaps and reasoning mistakes as either understanding or selection problems. Simply writing “wrong” beside both tells you little about what to do next.
After a full mock, select one missed question you could have answered and one concept you genuinely did not know. Repair those before attempting another long paper. This keeps review manageable.
Read notices by advertisement number
SBI can run a regular Junior Associate recruitment alongside a special drive. The current openings page listed both in September 2026. Match the advertisement number instead of opening the first link with “Junior Associates” in its heading.
