IBPS has not published the 2026 mains cut-off yet; it comes with the mains result, which the CRP PO/MT-XVI notification tentatively lists for November 2026. Until then, the official past cut-offs below are the best guide: for General candidates, the mains cut-off ranged from 63.00 (2023) to 75.75 (2025), out of 225.
Source check: 6 October 2026. Every number on this page comes from IBPS documents on ibps.in, linked under each table. IBPS calls the 2026 recruitment CRP PO/MT-XVI. It does not publish an expected cut-off, and this page does not guess one.
IBPS PO mains cut-off for past years
IBPS applies the mains cut-off in two steps. First you need the minimum score in every test, then a minimum total for your category. These are the total cut-offs, out of 225, from IBPS's own score documents.
| Category | 2025 (XV) | 2024 (XIV) | 2023 (XIII) |
|---|---|---|---|
| General | 75.75 | 66.50 | 63.00 |
| EWS | 72.50 | 64.75 | 61.00 |
| OBC (NCL) | 75.75 | 66.00 | 62.25 |
| SC | 59.00 | 54.25 | 50.25 |
| ST | 51.75 | 47.50 | 41.00 |
| HI | 38.75 | 23.50 | 28.75 |
| OC | 50.75 | 46.00 | 45.75 |
| VI | 45.00 | 37.75 | 47.50 |
| ID | 35.75 | 35.25 | 37.00 |
HI, OC, VI and ID are IBPS's labels for candidates with hearing impairment, orthopaedic (locomotor) disability, visual impairment and intellectual disability. Sources: IBPS score documents for the 2025 mains, the 2024 mains and the 2023 mains.
In all three years the total included the descriptive paper: IBPS added its 25 marks to the 200 objective marks. We could not find IBPS's cut-off documents for the 2021 (XI) and 2022 (XII) mains on ibps.in, so those years are left out rather than copied from unverified sources.
The marks for each test have changed over these years, so compare the figures with care:
| Test | 2023 and 2024 | 2025 | 2026 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reasoning | 60 | 60 | 60 |
| Awareness | 40 | 50 | 60 |
| English Language | 40 | 40 | 20 |
| Data Analysis and Interpretation | 60 | 50 | 60 |
| Descriptive paper | 25 | 25 | 25 |
The 2026 marks are from the CRP PO/MT-XVI notification. Our IBPS PO mains pattern guide explains the 2026 tests in detail.
Sectional cut-offs in the mains
IBPS sets one group of sectional minimums for General and EWS candidates and a lower group for SC, ST, OBC (NCL) and PwBD candidates. Each cell shows the minimum and the test's maximum marks.
General and EWS candidates
| Test | 2025 | 2024 | 2023 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reasoning | 8.50 of 60 | 5.75 of 60 | 3.50 of 60 |
| Awareness | 2.00 of 50 | 2.00 of 40 | 3.50 of 40 |
| English Language | 13.50 of 40 | 7.75 of 40 | 11.00 of 40 |
| Data Analysis and Interpretation | 6.00 of 50 | 2.25 of 60 | 7.75 of 60 |
| Descriptive paper | 10.00 of 25 | 10.00 of 25 | 10.00 of 25 |
SC, ST, OBC (NCL) and PwBD candidates
| Test | 2025 | 2024 | 2023 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reasoning | 4.50 of 60 | 2.75 of 60 | 1.50 of 60 |
| Awareness | 1.00 of 50 | 1.00 of 40 | 1.50 of 40 |
| English Language | 10.25 of 40 | 4.75 of 40 | 8.00 of 40 |
| Data Analysis and Interpretation | 3.50 of 50 | 1.00 of 60 | 4.75 of 60 |
| Descriptive paper | 8.75 of 25 | 8.75 of 25 | 8.75 of 25 |
The descriptive minimum stayed the same in all three years. In 2023 and 2024 IBPS called the reasoning test "Reasoning & Computer Aptitude". From 2023 to 2025 the descriptive paper was letter writing and essay; in 2026 it is an essay and a comprehension. Sources are the three score documents linked above.

Final cut-off after the interview
After the interviews, IBPS combines mains and interview marks in an 80:20 ratio, so the final score is out of 100. Its allotment notice then lists the lowest combined score that got a bank allotment in each category. That is the final cut-off.
| Category | 2025 (XV) | 2024 (XIV) | 2023 (XIII) |
|---|---|---|---|
| General (UR) | 46.11 | 42.69 | 41.13 |
| EWS | 43.64 | 39.93 | 38.71 |
| OBC (NCL) | 44.04 | 40.18 | 38.69 |
| SC | 38.53 | 35.91 | 34.73 |
| ST | 36.73 | 33.69 | 31.93 |
| HI | 25.98 | 18.36 | 21.82 |
| OC | 35.60 | 32.89 | 34.53 |
| VI | 35.29 | 32.38 | 32.40 |
| ID | 25.71 | 20.87 | 21.56 |
Sources: IBPS allotment notices dated 15 January 2026, 1 April 2025 and 1 April 2024. The same notices give the top General (UR) scores: 64.64 in 2025, 58.47 in 2024 and 57.93 in 2023. IBPS also keeps a reserve list of about 20 percent of the vacancies in each category, with its own lower minimum scores.
How IBPS sets the mains cut-off
IBPS decides the cut-offs after the exam. The notification links them to vacancies: "Depending on the number of vacancies available, cut-offs will be decided". It also sets these rules:
- You need a minimum score in each test of the mains, the descriptive paper included, and a minimum total. IBPS applies the test minimums first and the total second.
- General and EWS candidates share one group of sectional minimums. SC, ST, OBC (NCL) and PwBD candidates share a lower group. The total cut-off is set for each category.
- If a test is held in more than one session, IBPS equates the scores with the equi-percentile method and uses two decimal places.
- You type the descriptive paper on the computer, without spellcheck, straight after the objective tests. IBPS says it may be scored by a validated automated system that checks features of writing.
- Of the two written stages, only the mains counts. It decides the shortlist for the personality test and interview, and it goes into the final merit list with the interview. Prelims marks do not count.
- If you are shortlisted for the interview, IBPS does not share your mains score until the interview process is over.
- The interview carries 100 marks. Its qualifying mark is not less than 40 percent, or 35 percent for SC, ST, OBC and PwBD candidates. Mains and interview are weighted 80:20, and ties go to the older candidate.
- The vacancy table updated on 27 August 2026 lists 7,565 indicative vacancies. Final allotment uses the vacancies the banks actually report.

Result and interview timeline
The notification gives only months for the stages after the mains, and all of them are tentative:
- Mains result: November 2026
- Personality test: November 2026
- Interview: November or December 2026
- Provisional allotment: January 2027
The earlier stages fell in the months the notification gave. The prelims result notice and cut-offs came on 29 September 2026, and the mains was on 4 October 2026, the date on the mains information handout.
In the last two cycles, the mains result came later than the month printed in the notification:
| Cycle | Mains held | Result month in notification | Mains result | Allotment notice |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| XV (2025) | 12 October 2025 | November 2025 | 9 December 2025 | 15 January 2026 |
| XIV (2024) | 30 November 2024 | December 2024 or January 2025 | 5 February 2025 | 1 April 2025 |
Sources: the 2025 mains result notice, the 2024 mains result, the 2025 and 2024 notifications and the allotment notices above. IBPS's FAQ page says cut-off marks are provided with the online exam result.
Is there a state-wise IBPS PO cut-off?
No. IBPS publishes one cut-off for each category for the whole country. The notification calls PO an all-India cadre, so you can be posted anywhere in India. IBPS allots you a bank on merit and on the order of bank preference you gave in your application.
While you wait for the result
To see your own result and scores, you log in on the IBPS website with your registration or roll number and your password or date of birth. After the 2024 and 2025 mains, IBPS also listed the registration numbers of shortlisted candidates in a public PDF. Our IBPS PO result and scorecard guide explains what each result link means. If you are shortlisted, the personality test comes before the interview; the IBPS PO 2026 preparation guide covers both stages.

FAQ
What is the expected IBPS PO mains cut-off for 2026?
IBPS does not publish an expected cut-off, so any expected figure you see elsewhere is an estimate. The official 2026 mains cut-off comes with the mains result, which the notification tentatively lists for November 2026. For reference, IBPS's official General mains cut-off was 63.00 in 2023, 66.50 in 2024 and 75.75 in 2025, out of 225.
What is a safe score in IBPS PO mains?
IBPS does not publish a safe score. As past data only, the highest official General mains cut-off in the years on this page is 75.75 out of 225, for 2025. Clearing the cut-off only takes you to the personality test and interview, and the final list also counts interview marks.
Is there a sectional cut-off in IBPS PO mains?
Yes. The notification asks for a minimum score in each test and a minimum total. In 2025 the General and EWS minimums were 8.50 in Reasoning, 2.00 in awareness, 13.50 in English, 6.00 in Data Analysis and Interpretation and 10.00 in the descriptive paper.
When will the IBPS PO mains result and cut-off 2026 come?
The CRP PO/MT-XVI notification tentatively lists the mains result for November 2026, and IBPS says cut-off marks are given with the online exam result. In the last two cycles the mains result came on 9 December 2025 and 5 February 2025, later than the month printed in each notification.
Does the descriptive paper count in the IBPS PO mains score?
In 2023, 2024 and 2025 IBPS added the descriptive score, out of 25, to the objective score for a total out of 225. It also set a separate minimum for the paper: 10.00 for General and EWS and 8.75 for SC, ST, OBC and PwBD candidates. For 2026 the notification again asks for a minimum score in each test and in the total.
How is the IBPS PO final merit list made?
IBPS combines mains and interview marks in an 80:20 ratio, so the final score is out of 100. Prelims marks do not count. The interview carries 100 marks, and its qualifying mark is not less than 40 percent, or 35 percent for SC, ST, OBC and PwBD candidates. IBPS then allots banks on merit and on the bank preference order in your application.
