About SBI SO
Unlike SBI PO and SBI Clerk, which run once a year through a single notice, SBI recruits Specialist Cadre Officers (SCO, popularly called SBI SO) through multiple advertisement numbers throughout the year on sbi.bank.in/web/careers/current-openings. Regular officer posts (JMGS-I, MMGS-II, MMGS-III) in IT, Systems, Finance, Credit and Law typically select through an online test (General Aptitude plus Professional Knowledge) followed by an interview, while senior or niche contractual specialist roles shortlist applications on qualification and post-qualification experience for a 100-mark interview.

What they ask
When an SBI SO advertisement includes an online written test, the General Aptitude section (Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude and English) is qualifying, while your score in the 100-mark Professional Knowledge paper carries 70% weightage in the final merit alongside 30% for the interview. When an advertisement recruits through shortlisting and interview alone, SBI's committee sets screening criteria above the minimum eligibility based on years of relevant post-qualification experience and certifications before calling candidates for the 100-mark interview.
