What they ask

In SBI's Online Written Test for Assistant Manager (System) JMGS-I, the 120-minute paper is split into a 45-minute qualifying General Aptitude test (15 Reasoning, 15 Quant and 20 English questions for 50 marks) and a 75-minute Professional Knowledge test of 60 questions for 100 marks. Unlike IBPS SO, SBI explicitly splits the 60 Professional Knowledge questions across four weighted modules in the official notification: Software Development (20 questions, 33 marks), Infra Support (20 questions, 33 marks), Networking (10 questions, 17 marks) and Cloud Operations (10 questions, 17 marks). There is no negative marking for wrong answers in the written exam, and final merit combines your 100-mark Professional Knowledge score and 25-mark Interaction score in a 70:30 ratio.

How to prepare

  • Focus 65% of your technical revision on Software Development (33 marks) and Infra Support (33 marks), which together carry 40 of the 60 Professional Knowledge questions.
  • Attempt all 110 questions in the online written exam—the official SBI GITC notification specifies that there is no negative marking for wrong answers.
  • Study the exact OS and disk/CPU scheduling numericals named in the official syllabus: FCFS, SJF, SRTF, Round Robin, FIFO/Optimal/LRU paging and SSTF/SCAN/C-SCAN/LOOK disk scheduling.
  • Revise modern software and cloud topics that SBI tests directly: REST API HTTP methods, Git, SOLID principles, OWASP Top 10, Type 1 vs Type 2 hypervisors, VMs vs Containers and CI/CD.
  • Clear the 45-minute General Aptitude qualifying cutoff comfortably by practising Reasoning, Quant and English quizzes daily on the free Improvam app.
