About NIACL Assistant
New India Assurance, a public sector general insurer, recruits Assistants for its offices state by state. The latest advertisement (Ref. CORP.HRM/ASST/2024, dated 16 December 2024) was for 500 posts. You apply for one state or UT, take the exam at a centre there, and must pass a test in that state's regional language before selection.
Eligibility
Age limit
General category: 21–30 years, counted on 1 December 2024.
Age relaxation
- OBC: 3 years
- SC: 5 years
- ST: 5 years
- PwBD: 10 years
- You must be born between 2 December 1994 and 1 December 2003, both days included.
- Ex-servicemen get their actual period of service plus 3 years, up to 45 years.
- Widows and divorced or legally separated women who have not remarried get 5 years.
- Existing employees of New India Assurance get 5 years.

What they ask
The prelims has 100 questions in one hour, split into three 20-minute sections, and you must pass each section. The mains has 200 questions for 250 marks in two hours. Computer Knowledge and General Awareness each give you only 15 minutes for 40 questions, so they reward quick recall. There is no interview; the merit list is drawn from mains marks, provided you clear the language test.
How to prepare
- Train for speed in Computer Knowledge and General Awareness: 40 questions in 15 minutes each leaves about 22 seconds per question.
- Balance your practice across all five mains tests, since each carries the same 50 marks.
- Choose your state with the language test in mind; you must pass it to be selected, even with high mains marks.
- Skip questions you cannot narrow down, because each wrong answer costs a quarter of its marks.
