About LIC AAO
LIC recruits Assistant Administrative Officers as its entry-level officer cadre. The 2025 notification for the 32nd batch of AAO (Generalist) lists 350 vacancies, and a separate notification covers specialist AAOs. LIC says most vacancies are in mofussil (small-town) branches.

General category: 21–30 years, counted on 1 August 2025.
Age relaxation
- OBC: 3 years
- SC: 5 years
- ST: 5 years
- PwBD: 10 years
- Ex-servicemen: 5 years
- You must be born between 2 August 1995 and 1 August 2004, both dates included.
- PwBD relaxation is 10 years for General, 13 for OBC and 15 for SC/ST.
- Ex-servicemen and commissioned officers (including ECOs/SSCOs) get 5 years if General, 8 if OBC and 10 if SC/ST.
- Confirmed LIC employees get a further 5 years.

What they ask
Neither the prelims nor the mains has negative marking, so an attempt never costs you marks. In the prelims only reasoning and quant (70 marks) count for ranking; English must be cleared but is not added. The mains objective paper gives 3 marks per question in reasoning and data interpretation and 2 marks in the two awareness tests. Every section has a minimum qualifying mark printed in the notification, such as 45 out of 90 in mains reasoning for unreserved candidates.
How to prepare
- Attempt every question. LIC AAO has no negative marking in either stage.
- Give reasoning and data interpretation the most time for the mains, since each question there is worth 3 marks.
- Study insurance basics and financial market news for the 60-mark Insurance and Financial Market Awareness test, which other bank exams do not have.
- Note the sectional minimums in the notification (for example 18 of 35 in prelims reasoning for unreserved candidates) and aim well above them.
